Sales tax is unlikely to make any difference for you. Sales tax is an itemized deduction. If your itemized deductions do not exceed your standard deduction, they have no effect on your refund or tax due. And...if you are a dependent, you are probably getting back all of the tax that was withheld from your paychecks anyway, unless you made more than $12,950.
Did you fill out the sales tax section? You'll need to enter your sales tax rate.
As Tax Champ xmasbaby0 said, a sales tax deduction will likely not help if you are someone's dependent and working because you'd have to itemize deductions. Generally, you will not have enough expenses to itemize unless you own a home and pay a mortgage.
