Received this message tonight. I have used Turbo Tax for 15 years and this years software has been buggy as hell. 2 weeks ago I posted an issue regarding the CA 540 not calculating correctly. Last Thursday's update seemed to fix it. Now this pops up. It appears to me that we have become the beta testers for them. I will definitely consider another platform next year. as the customer I expect the released product to be correct the FIRST time.

NO tax product can be correct the FIRST time or it won't come out until days before the tax deadline. With tax laws changing late in the year and sometimes AFTER the close of a year, it is absolutely impossible to get what you are expecting. ALL tax software starts as a basic shell and is pieced together as the IRS and states get information to the software providers. You're asking for something that simply isn't possible.
I disagree. 14 years I have NEVER had an issue. IMO the errors have nothing to do with tax laws. There software developers are not cutting it.
My California return was pending for 6 days. Turbo tax says don’t worry. I knew they were wrong!
In 10 years filing I NEVER had my state return pending for more than a few hours!
And today comes back rejected. No surprise to me.
charitable contribution error. I have no charitable contributions and nothing is enter!!! So why would I have an errror!
the stress and aggravation your flawed software has caused me is insane!
Appears this is the second year in a row this has happened.
Wont be using turbo tax ever again!
And if there is gonna be forms and updates causing errors….then don’t let us e file till it’s all worked out.
we spend money on the software and trust when you say it’s all good …no errors found…to efile ONLY to come back rejected.

And in my case I never even made a charitable contribution yet it shows me the error!
The program update on 2/17 did not fix my issue. It was rejected again this morning. I am deleting charitable contributions from the state and trying to upload again.

Let me know if it works because I’m going on my third try. I actually did yesterday what you did today, and yesterday’s filing was rejected.
So here's the latest. I was on the phone for 2 hours today with tier 2 support. After trying many things this is the bottom line.
1. There's a possibility that the Calif update hasn't happened yet. After checking the installed updates status, this may be true.
2. Tried to manually install the program patch but it failed to work. Something about file in the Data1.cab not being there.
3. Discussed the possibility of deleting cash contributions in the federal return. I took a 600 cash deduction which should have effected the state return but it keeps getting rejected.
4. Rep told me that in checking trouble reports today, I was not alone with this issue. She added my ticket number to the package.
5. I went into the federal return and deleted the 600 dollar deduction. Keep in mind that this increases the amount owed to the state. The federal has already been transmitted so that ship sailed.
6. Last option is to file by mail. Really don't want to do this.
In summary, I will wait a few more days to see if in fact a Calif update is made. If not, I will manually delete the 600 and just pay the increased amount to the state, about 15 bucks.
More to follow. What a mess.
So irritating. I love TurboTax and have used it forever. This year, it is literally causing me more $ to try to find the error than if I had paid for tax service or used another app. Hope they fix it soon!

This is the email I received this morning. This is IMO not true. I still have not received a Calif update since 2/16/22. So here is what did and I not recommend it for others.
1 Removed the 600 dollar amount from 12b of the federal return.
2. Made sure that there was NO charitable deductions on the federal return. With the standard deduction being way more for 2 people than going the itemized route, this did cause my federal refund to change. It was about $135 lower.
3. The state amount owed stayed the same.
I uploaded again this morning and it was FINALLY ACCEPTED. I will strongly consider going to a tax preparer next year. Having to invent a work around on this issue is something that no one should do. Good luck.
For the first time ever, My California State return would not e-file. Nothing has changed in my return on my end since previous years. Federal went through immediately and was accepted. Rejection msg said I have withholding from a source other than forms "W2, W2G, 1099R," etc. I have no withholdings not present in previous years. TT found no errors, and also said I could file by mail. Which I did. Will now wait to see if California State Tax folks gets back to me about it.
They seem to have butchered this year's California software.
Yeah I'm not refiling again. This is complete BS. If they still want my money they can figure some other way to get it, it's just not worth the aggrevation and it's not fair. The ball's in their court now.
