I would recommend deleting both 1099-DIVs, logging out, clear your browser cache and cookies, logging back in, then re-entering the 1099-Divs manually. Cookies are small files that temporarily store data on your computer. We use them to personalize your experience so you see information you already entered and not items that are irrelevant or repetitive. On rare occasions, they may make your browser think you already did something that you still need to do. To fix that, you'll need to delete (clear) the cookies from your browser. Each browser has a slightly different method for deleting cookies. Choose the browser you're using:
After you have logged in and are in your return in TurboTax Online:
At the financial services screens, click "Change how I enter my form" then "Type it myself"
The pandemic has affected your taxes in many ways. Including reporting in TurboTax the amount of stimulus money you received. Click Here for more information on how the Pandemic affected your 2020 taxes.
I followed the instructions given about deleting the items, deleting cookes, etc and the item that I deleted was back in the list after I logged back in. I deleted it again and re-added it. Then I noticed that other items had disappeared from my 1099-R forms and instead of getting an approximate $300 tax refund in the final review I wound up with over $300 tax due. Something else must have changed somewhere. At this point, unless you come up with a suggestion that will fix this mess I'm seriously considering deleting everything and starting all over. Usually one uses software to make one's life easier. But this is hours and hours of work down the drain
another update: after I got the 1099-div that was missing re-added, I reviewed everything in the federal return (all income, dividends, capital gains, taxes paid, tax breaks, etc) and found that foreign tax credits were missing. At the federal review, the total dividends came up too high. Going back to dividends, now the one that was missing that I re-added is listed twice. Something very strange is going on.
Which boxes were actually used on that problem 1099-DIV?
There have been some issues with box 1a being blank for some situations....but could be some others too, we can test workarounds if we know which boxes have real values in them for you.
Hi SteamTrain. One 1099-div had info in boxes 1a (divd), 1b (qual divd) and 7 (foreign tax) with some US govt interest. The other had info in box 1a (divd) with some US govt interest. The one that continued to have problems such as it reappearing after it had been deleted (again with just the payer name and ein) and then reappearing with its original amounts restored later on with no intervention from me (effectively doubling the divd amount in the totals) is the one with info in box 1a (divd) with some US govt interest. I deleted the extra 1099-Div, re-checked all the other data on the federal and re-did the state form, going through final review. This morning I went through the Final Review again; nothing disappeared and everything passed. I am assuming that whatever caused the problem has been fixed.
Maybe they fixed it.......
The one with only a box 1a value, and US Gov interest to report …we had a very simple workaround for that, but perhaps not needed now.
