Form 8915-E will be ready very soon using TurboTax. It is useful to stay with the same software year over year. TurboTax will carry your AGI from the prior year to the current year, for example, and you are familiar with how the program works.
You can count on TurboTax to follow the IRS guidelines for all forms.
Form 8915-E was only recently approved for electronically filed returns. Our engineers are working hard on updating the program to accommodate the changes and are expected to have the update ready by February 25, 2021, as of this writing.
For more information, see; What is Form 8915-E Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Plan Distributions and Repayments?
Until the program is updated, if you wish to proceed, you would have to paper file. The IRS takes at least 6-8 weeks to process a paper filed return and 2-3 weeks to process an electronically filed return.
To paper file your return, see these links:
I understand I want to use TurboTax I just hate that TurboTax is so much later than the others with this form.
I have almost all my return info entered in Turbo tax. Just missing form 8915-E. I now have to wait until the update is ready but want to make sure when this happens I can simply log back in, attach this form, and submit my return correct?
Yes, once Form 8915-E is ready you will just log in and follow these steps to finish your return:
Thank you. Kept me posted when the form arrives so I can submit my taxes. If possible can you email me at —[email address removed] ?
Thank you,
Antonieta Palma
I am unable to do that for you, but if you sign up you will be emailed automatically.

The final version of the form didn't come out till 02/11/2021 but the IRS released a DRAFT version weeks before that to give companies like TURBOTAX (TT) a baseline to start working on their computer systems so that when the final version came out, TT customers would not be in limbo like right now. NOTHING EVER CHANGES FROM THE DRAFT TO THE FINAL VERSION of IRS DRAFT FORMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Instead TT did freaking nothing with the draft form.
Exactly it shouldn't be 2 weeks after filing and we are still waiting shame on TT!
I got an email from TurboTax saying the form would be ready for e-file on 2/24, but I just logged in this morning to complete my taxes and the form is still not ready/available. Now I see your post saying the form will be ready on 2/25. Which is the correct date? Will it possibly be available later today, or tomorrow?

Form 8915-E, Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Plan Distributions and Repayments is scheduled to be available on 02/25/2021
Go to this website for IRS forms availability in TurboTax - https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_fed_online_individual.html
It says 2/25 now so now another day!!
So if I don't e-file by this weekend the price goes up (email received from Intuit), but the proper form/software is not available?

If you do not think you will be able to file your return until after 02/28/2021, then you can pay for the TurboTax online account now to lock in the current price.
To pay the TurboTax online account fees by credit card, without completing the 2020 return at this time, click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Then click on Print Center. Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return. On the next page, to pay by credit card, click Pay Now. The next screen will show a review of your Fees, click on Continue. Complete the next screen to pay by credit card and click Continue.
This is a shame raise prices during pandemic, and the only reason we haven't files is because the form isn't ready!
Agreed 100% - super frustrating.
