Yes, you can enter a SSA1099 using the Free Edition. You are posting your question from Deluxe. Did you enter some other sort of income in addition to the Social Security? Something caused you to upgrade. Did you try to enter itemized deductions? And...if your only income is Social Security you are not even required to file a tax return unless you have a 1095A for marketplace health insurance or if you had tax withheld from the SS and want a refund.
