Why is the cost of Audit Defense 900% higher than last year and the previous 20 some years?

My son and his family may be PCSing back to the States in 2022, and they heard everyone gets audited when they do, so I've always gotten the protection for them, but $600 on the home & business and $450 on the deluxe is insane!

How is the $45 for Audit Defense higher by 900% then the $45 charge for Audit Defense on the 2020 tax return?

Maybe my additional comment isn't visible, but I used Home & Business, and Audit Defense was listed as, for only $600 more. . . So I contacted Intuit, and a rep looked at my screen to verify the $600, and said it was probably because I had the version for business.  I thought that was reasonable, since more complications would maybe trigger more audits in that version.  So I requested a refund and bought the Deluxe version.  I get through review, and it says, for only $450 more.  .  . I always got Audit Defense for us, and for our Army son, but this is ridiculous.  

Did you buy 2021 Audit Defense for $45?

There is something wrong with your software.  Make sure that you have the latest release.  Click on Online at the top of the desktop program screen.  Click on Check for Updates.

I just sent my dil the link to the taxaudit site, then saw this message.  I've used TT for decades, and this is the second version I've tried this year - one a disk and one a download.  both have this inflated value.  Thanks for the screenshot.  That's what I would expect to see.  I update daily.

Just out of curiosity and you do not need to answer, where did you purchase the 2021 TurboTax software.

And I think the price is the same for each version.  Do other things and amounts display right on your computer?  Sounds like a display problem on your computer.  It's showing an extra 0 at the end line where a comma should be?  Did you add it and get charged the higher amount?  I bet it wouldn't charge you that much.

Sam's Club - in person for the disk, and online today for the download.  I almost always get it from Sam's Club.

Everything else is accurate.  I'm a certified tax pro, and I review it all.  We use a different software at work, but I've always used TT for family, mainly for the audit defense.  It could be a system issue.  Shows as $450 - no decimal or comma.  Not willing to hassle with a refund if it charges the $450, so I'll just get from the separate website.  The TT rep was the one who said the $600 could have been because it was the Home & Business version.  And the Deluxe shows $450.  I always used Premier or Deluxe in the past, and they were always the same fee for the audit protection.

@tknuetsmith It would be interesting if you selected Audit Defense and on the following screen would it show the $450 or the $45.  Either way you can remove the charge on the same screen.

You are right. Home and Business is more.  It is $60.  I have HB.  But it sounds like instead of showing a comma after the price you are seeing a 0.  Are you on Windows or Mac?

Yes, so apparently, something in the system added a zero.  Just made the purchase and the correct values were on the website. Windows
