That underpayment penalty is based on when you made your payments and when you earned your money.  The system has estimated - based on your answers - that the FTB will not charge you a penalty this year.  It is always possible that you will still get a letter from them looking for a 9$ penalty but I would let the system do it's thing and see what happens.  You almost certainly don't owe a penalty.   As far as estimates vs increased withholding - increased withholding is better than estimated payments.  The IRS views withholding as having been paid equally over every day of the year so there is never a question of timely payment.  As long as your increase in withholding covers the amount that you would have covered with estimated payments you're definitely ahead.
If your federal tax return, Form 1040 Line 11 is blank then you did not have any taxable income in 2024. Enter a 0 (zero) for the 2024 AGI to e-file the 2025 tax return.
If there are expenses included in Box 13 Code L that you cannot deduct on Schedule A, your best option is to reduce the amount entered for Code L (to zero if appropriate).
I have my 2024 return, but the AGI field, line 11, is left blank. I can't input the AGI to verify my identity and submit my 2025 taxes.

@DianeW @LindaS5247   Dear Representative, I am writing to request assistance regarding an issue with my tax refund application. I have been informed that my refund request could not be processed due to a mismatch between my name and Social Security Number (SSN) in your records. I respectfully request guidance on how to resolve this discrepancy. As I am currently residing outside the United States, I am unable to contact your office by phone. Therefore, I would greatly appreciate your assistance in advising me on the necessary steps to correct this issue and proceed with my refund. Can you share with me any e-mail for communication?  Thank you for your time and consideration. Respectfully,

@vicseabaugh    Only the desktop software allows you to prepare separate tax files form one software set.   For Online, you can't start a new tax return form within your own account...if you try to do so you will permanently destroy your own tax file.   For your daughter, you need to get out of your account, and create an entirely new one, using a new email address (hers probably), and new user's ID and PWD.   Whether you can really use Free depends on what incoem types are in her tax forms.  I have a relative with 2 working teens, whose W-2 $$ are low, but they have UTMA accounts with activity and unearned dividends large enough to force them to have to use the Premium pay-for-it software   Make absolutely suer you write down what UserID/PWd you used for each account...you will forget or be uncertain by the time taxes roll around next year

Not a CPA, but my understanding is - if you don't have activity requiring File 8606 then it is not filed.  But you need to carry forward the basis which Turbotax will do on worksheets, but over the course of 19 years if you didn't use Turbotax consistently or some other issue occurred along the way, maybe the basis was lost and then Turbotax wouldn't have known to trigger 8606 for the distribution; when you input the 1099-R you would have had a question whether you made non-deductible contributions for prior years and confirm the basis carry forward to use.   It sounds like you may have to amend your 2023 return to get the right tax calculation on that distribution and adjustment to your basis which would carry forward to 2024 (which may or may not need amending also if you had any activity affecting Form 8606), and 2025.   @dmertz

yes, line 18 is your beginning tax before the non refundable credits.  Line 21 is your total non refundable credits (which would be your lifetime learning credit).  That takes your tax down to $1,243.  Then I am assuming line 24 is the same as line 22.     Then on line 33 this is the total of your payments including refundable credits and withholdings from your pay check.  So when you subtract $1,243 from $3,025, you get $1,782.  So that is your real refund.  Assuming you entered everything correctly on your return you would not have to pay it back.

I am using the Deluxe version on my MacPro and when I follow the process outlined above the estimated taxes for 2026 show only the amount currently paid or withheld to date AND adds the prior years (2025) taxes withheld. This results in an amount for estimated taxes needed to be paid during 2026 which not accurate because the amount that will be withheld in 2026 will be different that what was withheld in 2025. In prior years, there was a question I believe that asked what the total amount of taxes for the year were going to be withheld and not just what was withheld to date. What am I missing? Thanks.

OK, thanks to those who responded and offered input. I finally decided to just take a deep breath and work through transferring the K-1 information I got to the K-1 forms in TT. Answered whatever questions came up, some on some rather obscure points. Nevertheless, I finished and my Review showed no errors, so I submitted it. I suppose time will tell if there is an issue with the 8949s. 😑
