I need to file for 2024, but TurboTax online is defaulting to the 2025 return. How do I select to file for the year I want? TurboTax Online only supports preparing and e-filing the current tax year—right now that’s tax year 2025. You can’t switch or select a different year, like 2024, in the online platform. This TurboTax link explains how to transfer your return from TurboTax Online to TurboTax Desktop. To complete and file a 2024 tax return using TurboTax, you would need to purchase, download, and install on a personal computer one of the 2024 desktop editions from this website: Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

You can change the option. Here is how to do this in TurboTax Online: Sign in to your TurboTax account and go to your Tax Home. Scroll down to the section titled "Your tax returns & documents." Click on "Add a State" (you aren't actually adding a state; this is just away to reopen your return). Once the return is open, select File from the left-hand menu. You will see a screen that says something like "Just one more step." Click Start or Revisit next to Step 3. On the "Let’s get ready to e-file" screen, select the option "I want to e-file." Follow the prompts to enter your bank info (if needed) and click the "Transmit Returns Now" button.

Look at the Federal Information Worksheet.  In Part V of the worksheet will be the routing and account number of the bank you selected for direct debit of the taxes owed. You will need to download the PDF to include all worksheets.   To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/   When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state.  This will take you back to the 2025 online tax return. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.  Then click on Print Center.  Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.  Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets   If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

Yes, you can have different banks for the Federal refund and a separate bank for the State.  You will post these when you are filing the tax return.

The screen that you get stuck on regarding the PPP loans is just a result of following the steps outlined in the help article to adjust for the housing allowance.  The 'jump to' link is not going to the same place as in the past and you are going through a different/incorrect section of the program.  It has been reported that the help article should be corrected.   Try using the following steps to make the housing allowance adjustment:   In the Income section of your return, scroll to Less Common Income. Click Start or Update beside Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C. Scroll to the bottom of the Let's Work on Any Miscellaneous Income screen and select Start next to Other reportable income. Answer Yes, and on the Any Other Taxable Income screen, type Clergy Housing Allowance in the description and enter it as a negative number (precede it with a minus sign, for example -10,000). This will report the housing allowance as a negative adjustment on Form 1040 Schedule 1 line 8z.

I accidentally transferred money into Trad IRA instead of Roth. Called, but institution couldn't stop/cancel the transfer. Money has not been allocated. Checked with the institution, it is NOT even IN the IRA account yet.   How do I go about moving this back to where it should be: in the Roth? Recharacterization? Do I need (if any) paperwork? Difficult to do? It's a very small amount. Less than $100.  thank you

Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.   Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.   If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...   After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

The taxable gain from the sale of your home flows from the Home Sale Worksheet to Schedule D Line 19 then to Form 1040 Line 7a. You may wish to review these pages of your return to see if you had adjustments that eliminated the gain.   The installment sale question appears at the end of the Home Sale interview. Work through the steps until you see Exclusion of gain. The next page asks if you plan to sell another home in the future, and the next asks about an Installment sale, where you can check the "no" box.

@ddenese80 @drj311 @th0126 @1angrymama @missesp82  I just finally finished filing Saturday. I'm hoping it goes quickly this year for all of us. You both need to be careful @ddenese80 Change is always a scary thing, but with your faith I know you will do great! @1angrymama you know you aint gonna leave KY, lol. I kinda wish I had a job where I could relocate, but at the same time I feel blessed to live in a small town where there's not alot of crime or violence & you can leave your doors unlocked & still feel safe. Maybe one day I will retire & buy a house on the beach & one in the mountains, lol.
