There are now 8 states that do not tax their residents’ income: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming. If your state is not listed in the W2 box 15 drop down list it doesn’t have an income tax.  Leave W2 boxes 15,16, & 17 BLANK, empty, no spaces.
@chaibowers358 Then delete the W-2 and re-enter the W-2 manually.

It looks like an S-corporation has to expense tangible items <= $2,500 on their corporate books (not talking about tax books) in order to qualify for the De Minimis Safe Harbor deduction. This has to be done for the whole tax-year I think. Would recording a $2,000 item in the Corp Books as an asset (capitalize) and then immediately the same day 100% expensing the whole amount to an expense type account, qualify per De Minimis rules?  I think on the gen ledger for a computer it looks like: Day 1, Db Asset-Equipment Acct +$2000 Day 1, Cr Checking Acct +$2,000 Day 1, Cr Asset-Computers Acct -$2,000 Day 1, Db Expense-Computers Acct -$2,000 It appears to me like it is still expensed on the books.  Is it, and does it meet the IRS De Minimis Safe Harbor rule of requiring the corporate books to expense these purchases?   Before someone points out that this is not the best way to do the books for meeting the De Minimis requirement, please  note that for 2026 I just expense theses <= $2500 tangible items from the get go and never put them in an asset account.   Thanks.

And, the new 6000/12000 added Sr deduction is NOT a part of the Standard Deduction.   That new deduction shows up separately as part-or all of line 13b of the form 1040. _________________ There is a slightly higher Std Deduction for those who reach age 65 in a particular tax year.  You probably received it for filing 2024 taxes for yourself, but whether it also increase for you wife would depend on exactly which year she actually  reached age 65.   The Std deduction for MFJ for the both of you for tax year 2025 (and both at leas age 65 in 2025) should show as 34,700 on line 12e of your form 1040...which is an increase of 3200over what a MFJ couple would get if both under age 65 in 2025.

@DianeW777 Token number 1338096 AL. Seems like they need to rework that entire form. Even if you delete stuff, it comes back. Someone needs to test out every box in that form! I hope whoever is responsible for creating this mess is fired! Oh wait, I'm sure it is going to get blamed on AI. Years ago I left H&R Block for tax forms that didn't work right, now it is the same here.
form says 2B, error coded says there is no Code B for this exempt Roth IRA

@Dude3145 , I have the same Windows Home& Business installed  and up dated to the most recent.  I have filed returns both fed and state -- no forms with  " Do Not File" .  What is different  in your case -- can you tell ?  Are you on windows 11  fully updated ,  H& B most recent update as of yesterday ( 03/07-2026).  If yours is  to the same level, then what do you see  as issue -- which form / forms ? Please help -- yes ? Anything special about your situation ?   I have W-2, SSA-1099, 1099-INT, standard deduction, EIC etc. -- and multiple returns -- California and MI.  I am trying to understand  what is different and why you are seeing this .

After you completed entry of the Form SSA-1099 for your Social Security benefits, there was a screen which asked you if you lived in any of the foreign countries listed.  If you did NOT live in those countries you should have selected NO.   If your benefits are showing as not taxable and they should be then you need to go back and look at your answer on that screen.   To enter Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099 Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business) Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business) Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown) Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security On Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099), click the start or update button

Assuming you are filing separately for both Federal and California:   The creation of a “mock” federal return that reflects joint-filing status is just to get the numbers you need to fill in the sections of your state return that use numbers from a "married filing jointly" federal return. This ”mock” federal return never goes to the IRS; you submit it with your California state return.   See here for California FTB information on married or RDP filing separately.    If you file a joint return for federal purposes, you may only file separately for California if either spouse was one of the following: An active member of the United States armed forces or any auxiliary military branch during the year A nonresident for the entire year and had no income from California sources during the year For California, if you’re married/registered domestic partner (RDP), you may choose to file separately. Each spouse or partner will prepare a separate tax return and report their individual income and deductions:   Tax rates are higher for the married/RDP filing separately filing status If one person files itemized, the other spouse/RDP must file itemized as well Generally, you do not qualify for Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Child and dependent care credit. Check the CalEITC eligibility page for more information. Standardized deduction is reduced (1/2 of married/RDP filing jointly) You may be able to file as head of household if your child lived with you and you lived apart from your spouse/RDP during the entire last six months of the year.   California is a community property state. When filing a separate return, each spouse/RDP reports the following:   One-half of the community income All of their own separate income Community property rules apply to the division of income if you use the married/RDP filing separately status.   @Laka

During the Federal Interview I filled out the portion of 1099 dividends that were from US Government Obligations. Now in the Virginia state tax interview, Investments Section, Exempt US Bond Income, it is asking for a manual entry.  1) Why doesn't TurboTax use the entries I already provided during the federal interview to auto calculate this? 2) Assuming there is some nuance, where do I look in my federal forms to summarize the information I already calculated during the federal interview. This is for the 2025 tax year and I am using the Windows desktop version of TurboTax Deluxe
Here’s a screenshot I took for last year.   See Seems pretty clear.
I created an LLC last year for my Self directed IRA. Am I required to file taxes for this LLC? And if so, how do I go about it?
I can download the file from prior years but it doesn't include the depreciation worksheet my accountant is asking for.
