The Form 1040-X for amending a 2025 federal tax return is estimated to be available in TurboTax on 02/25/2026   An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 20 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return. Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS. See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a current year tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-federal-tax-return-curr...

Amyc, RobertB4444 - tax experts my inquiry open for 5 hours and 3 hours since last update. I will be signing off, will connect back on Monday 2 -23 -2026 - to find if explanation is available.   My return is very simple, I'm retired, just some 1099's DIV and INT forms, one of which is tax exempt which is not working and adds to federal income- state KY works okay.   Does TurboTax 2025 have a solution?

I have got my tax return back already since I filed over a month ago, but forgot to add one of my W2s since I had multiple jobs. The news said after Feb 19th 2026 that this would be available to efile, but it is still not available? I do not want to send in a physical form to mail in, so when is this actually going to be ready to go on turbotax??

Same... searched long time for answers and none can solve this. I marked it Sold but no prompts at all to enter further information

Yea, normally I always leave zeroes as blanks. At this point I wanted to try everything I could think of. Hopefully someone can figure this out. In the interim I've printed the form and did the calculations by hand.   My taxes last year and this year are essentially a duplicate (different amounts of course), yet in the 2024 version the form populated. I think this is a miss by TurboTax.

ok I'm just stumped on this for some reason I had a truck in my business which i put in service in 2019 and took it out of service in 2024 but did not sell it  now doing my 2025 taxes I need to put that I sold this vehicle in 2025  this is the question. used the standard mileage rate all years 1. I purchased this truck for 43000.00 2. the usage on this truck varied for the 5 years 3. do I take the 43000.00 and multiply the percentage to get the business portion used in my business   43000 x .11% =14237.00 ? 4. the next year i did 36.91% then 28.94% next year 3.86% 2.14& do I take all the years and multiply them by the 43000.00 to get the total amt of the sales price? which totals 45168.80  I sold the vehicle for 35000.00  the miles i got from 2019-2023 was a total of 5545.00 so on the sale of business  or rental property description i put 2017 truck date acquired  06/17/2019 date sold   01/31/2025 total sales price   35000.00 cost of property 43000.00 depreciation taken (miles)  $5545.00 so what I am wondering  if I add up the business portion used  on the vehicle it comes to 45168.80 which is more than I sold it for  1. do I put the 45168.80 as the sales price?  or the 35000.00 I actually sold it for? sorry this is so long i can not see to find any answers to this crisis I'm having thanks to any one that has time for this answer.

@BobbyC777    Grins......SteamTrain !   Tested the 2020 thru 2024 desktop Windows software too.  This problem with the 1099-DIV s started when they rewrote the investment income section for 2024 Desktop  (Don't know if MAC Desktop has the same problem)   For the 2020, 21, 22, 23 Windows desktop software, for tax-exempt interest/dividends, the Multistate breakdown in the 1099-DIV interview, matched what the 1099-INT entries did.   i.e., for those prior years if you did a multi-state breakdown of state tax-exempt dividends, using the second bullet point, that breakdown took priority over whatever was set in the first bullet point

No I didn’t get a DDD yet because of an amend to my taxes which can take up to 16 weeks to process but I’m ok with it!
These instructions were spot on for me.  Thank you. The only anomaly I experienced was that Step 10 "Where is your distribution from" did not appear in my version of TurboTax 2025.

Since you stated that you did not receive any Social Security income in 2024, then this number should be zero.   You can also go back to the Social Security entry area in TurboTax.  Your SS benefits for 2025 will be on the first page.  The next page is about being a US citizen living abroad.   The page after that will be your lump-sum payment info summary.  It should say your lump-sum amount for 2024 from your 2025 SSA-1099.  Your earlier year benefits should be zero since you did not receive SS benefits in 2024.  You can also edit your entry here, with the first page being the year of the payment (2024), with the next page as the amount of the 2024 lump sum payment.  The next screen is the amount in box 5 of your 2024 Form SSA-1099 which will be zero for you - you may have entered the box 5 amount of your 2025 SSA-1099 here by mistake.

Using TurboTax Windows Desktop and working through the step-by-step forms to enter Foreign Tax Credit information.   One screen is titled "Other Gross Income - <Country>".   The wording specifically says "Enter descriptions and amounts for other gross income you received from <country>. " and then Do not include …INT, DIV, 2555 or schedules K-1.   I receive “Gross” income (say $100) from <country> but because of the basis for this upon entering the USA more than 25 years ago, I deduct out a portion of that basis to get a “Taxable” amount (say $80).   So, while the instructions specifically state Gross, do I use the Gross amount (upon which the foreign taxes were calculated) or only the taxable amount (which was included in US income and upon which US taxes are calculated)?
All I get a message :"You made it through another tax Year" How to I get back to the dashboardr with Tax tools?

In TurboTax, your Colorado 529 (CollegeInvest) contributions are entered in the Colorado State return section to claim a state tax subtraction. I guess my situation is slightly different than the original post; I rolled funds over directly from a Coverdell ESA to a 529 account. Therefore form 8606 does not apply. I selected the box confirming that this was a direct rollover, and TurboTax is still saying I owe a ton of taxes now as a result of this 1099-Q I am trying to enter.
