It's impossible for a QCD to be greater than the gross amount distributed. If more was contributed to charity than the amount distributed, the amount beyond the gross amount distributed had to come from some other funds. A charitable contribution made using funds that did not come from an IRA would have to be claimed on Schedule A. If QCDs were made from more than one IRA such that you have more than one Form 1099-R from IRAs, you must enter the QCD amount made from each IRA separately.

A. You don't report it on your 2025 tax return, at all. At most, you may have to file an amended 2024 tax return. That's unlikely, as TT must likely made the necessary adjustment depending on your input.

They are different. Amounts taken out of your paycheck and put into an FSA should have reduced taxable wages as reported in Box 1. For many with an FSA, that's it, nothing more to report. But if you put money into a dependent care FSA, there will be an amount in Box 10, requiring Form 2441.

Thank you!!! It looks okay on form 1040. Would be nice if Turbo fixed what seems like an issue... very alarming to see your taxable amount display incorrectly for non-taxable rollovers.

If you set your tax return up correctly as a joint tax return, when you enter a SSA1099 it will ask which spouse it is for and/or show you a spot for your spouse's SSA1099.
When you are entering income on a joint return, every income entry screen will either have a spot with both spouse’s names there, or when you click to enter a W-2, 1099R, etc. it will ask you by name which spouse it is for. You do not have to wait for the software to “ask” you for your spouse’s income. Go to the screens to enter your spouse’s W-2’s, 1099’s, etc. just like you did for your own income. Then look for your spouse’s name there.
Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

Hello, Schedule OS has data while completing the forms. It is flowing appropriately to the state return. However, when I "Review" the forms, Schedule OS is included in the PDF, but no data is showing. I have deleted all states to start over. I have deleted Schedule OS and manually input the data. Why is the data not populating in the PDF?

Up to 5 Days Early works by delivering your refund up to 5 days before the IRS is able to deliver funds to your bank account. For example, if the IRS indicates that your refund will arrive in your account in 15 days from the date your tax return was accepted, our to Up 5 Days Early service will get your refund to your account within 10–14 days.
Since you indicated that TurboTax is saying your refund will be delivered the 11th, and it is only the 8th, the best thing to do is wait.
If the money isn’t delivered at least 1 day early, you won’t be charged a fee for this service.

In the context of oil, gas, or mineral royalties, a negative production tax is essentially a tax refund or an overpayment adjustment from a prior period. Because the tax paid was deducted in a previous year, you must report it as income in the year you receive the adjustment. You can add to Box 2 Royalties as a positive number, or add as additional income in the Schedule E section of Turbotax.

TurboTax calculates the necessary estimated tax payments based on the assumption that tax withholding and, for state tax, state of residence will be unchanged and income will not decrease from one year to the next. If those assumptions are correct, the estimated tax payment vouchers produced by TurboTax show the minimum quarterly amounts the must be paid to qualify for the the safe harbor of paying 110% of last year's Maryland tax liability. In your son's case, the penalty and interest imposed by Maryland indicates that his tax withholding was insufficient to qualify for the safe harbor of paying at least 110% of the previous year's tax liability, for the safe harbor of tax withholding totaling at least 90% of the current-year tax liability or for the safe harbor of having a balance due of $500 or less. To avoid the need to make state estimated tax payments in the future, he likely needs to have his employer increase his state tax withholding.
