Were the distributions from your HSA (i.e,, the amount on your 1099-SA) all used for qualified medical expenses?   If so, is the amount on the 1099-SA appearing anywhere on your form 1 (1040)? It should not.   If your 1099-SA amount does not appear on your return as income (because it was all for medical expense), then your return is correct and you should have no concerns.   Where does it say "available now"? Can you give us a screenshot here, with any personally identifiable information redacted? I don't recognize "available now" as a TurboTax message.

It is now 1/26/26 and I still get a message that the input for the Federal Energy credit is not available.
So far, TurboTax is not populating line 13b and can not be edited as of 1/26/26

You can change the email address associated with your account through your account settings.   Intuit uses a single sign in system for all Intuit products, so changing it here will also update it for any other Intuit products you use, such as QuickBooks or Credit Karma.   To Change Your Email Address: Select Intuit Account located in the lower-left corner of your screen (near the Sign Out button). On the Account Manager page, select the Sign in & security menu. Select the Email address section. Enter your new email address and then enter it again to confirm. Enter your current password when prompted to verify the change. Select Save. Check your new email inbox for a verification link from Intuit and click it to finalize the update. If you can't sign in at all, you can go to the Intuit Account Recovery page. This requires you to upload a photo of a government-issued ID to verify your identity.

Have you seen a screen that occurs right after you  you reviewed your return titled "Let's Review Your New York Numbers"?  I put in a NY return and this summary had all items correct.  It took a "Starting Tax Amount" which is just the state income tax, then added the city tax for NYC and then the use tax.  It showed subtractions for the Empire State Child Credit and the NYC School Tax credit.  Below that were the tax payments that were made for state and city withholding.  The New York State refund that was shown was correct.   This should have the information to explain your NY state tax situation.  If not, please respond with details about this screen.  You may also try contacting a representative over the phone to look at this with you.  Here is information on how to do that:  TurboTax Contact Information

And what state are you in?  You should get a step up in  your basis(cost) when your spouse died.    My husband died in 2023 in California which is a comunity property state and I got a step up to the full value on date of death.   We bought it in 1997 and now the value is 4 times as much.  So if I sell the profit should be very small.     I would check with an accountant or lawyer and probably a real estate agent to get the value on date of death.

TurboTax automatically applies the last-month rule; you can't opt out of it.   However, your story puzzles me, because based on what you have said so far, you should not have been penalized for failure to maintain HDHP coverage.   When you have HDHP coverage every month as you did in 2024, then it should not matter about the last-month rule at all, since you contributed the max based on your coverage, which was the same as what the last-month rule would allow.   Look at your 1040, and tell me what line this $364 appears on. It should be somewhere on Schedule 1 (1040). Then, if you can see your 8889, tell me what amounts are on lines 18, 20, and 21.   There is a way to fix this, but I must be confident that you have a payment for the reason you have stated.

In general, short-term disability payments are taxable when the premiums are paid by your employer.  If you paid the premiums, they are not taxable.   If you can see short-term disability on your W-2 or on a separate W-2, you will enter your Form W-2 as shown and answer all subsequent questions related to your disability payment.   In general, it is shown in Box 13 of your W-2. Third Party Sick will be checked.     Short-term disability is not the same thing as paid family leave.   If you are unsure about your short-term disability payment, you can ask your employer or payroll company.   If you are using TurboTax Online you can enter your Form W-2 as follows::   Click on "Search" at the top right of your TurboTax screen. Type "Form W-2" in the search bar Click on the link "Jump to Form W-2 section of TurboTax".
