Hello,  I’ve been always asked about to wait for a call back within 30 days (it’s 3 times I was advised for that) it’s more than a year and I haven’t received any feedback to resolve my issues about my 2022 and 2023 Ammended returns. I was hoping through this event forum, I can have answer to my ammendments. Thank you!

Did you wait until your original tax  return was processed before you filed the amended tax return?  Fully processed means that you have receive your refund or your balance due is deducted from your account.    It generally takes 8 to 16 weeks to process an amended tax return (Form 1040-X).   Refer to the IRS website Where’s My Amended Return? for more information.

you're saying you filed a 1041 that was a duplicate(?) of the 1041 the CPA filed. Did both filings use the same EIN/TIN number? did moth reflect exactly the same items on the 1041?  if so, I would do nothing. Wait to see if the IRS sends a notice and respond accordingly. if different EIN/TIN or amounts which one is correct? the incorrect one would need an amended return showing all zeros for amounts. If there are differing amounts between the two, then both need amending - one all zero's and the other reporting the correct amounts using the correct EIN.
What state are you working on? Can you give us more information?
@j_p_halloran We have asked for a callback so that a member of the product support team can assist you in resolving this.

I submitted the wrong forms and ended up paying more in taxes. I used turbotax to submit my taxes as a resident for tax purposes (which I’ve done for years), but there were changes to my residency last year and I didn’t realize that my status changed to a non-resident for tax purposes, so I should’ve used something like sprintax. Since I filed taxes as a resident, I reported income I shouldn’t have and ended up paying more taxes. Although in my case, I received a smaller refund than the one I should’ve received. Should I try to amend my taxes?

It depends on when you choose to have it debited.   If you want to check the debit date you specified, look on the filing instructions for your return.  It will tell you the debit date the IRS or State will deduct the payment.  If you did not print them out you can view them using the following steps:    TurboTax Online  In TurboTax Online, sign into your account. You should be on your Tax Home page. Scroll down to Your tax returns & documents. Select 2024, and then select Add a State (you're not actually adding a state, this just gets you into the right menu). Once you're in your return, you can navigate around as usual. Click Tax Tools (in the black bar on the left of your screen) and then click select Print Center. Click Print, save or preview this year's return TurboTax CD/Download  Go into Forms Mode by clicking on the Forms icon in the top right of the blue bar.   In the Forms in My Return list on the left, click Filing Inst.  [It's usually toward the bottom of the list.]  The form will appear on the right side of the screen. You can view the form on the screen or you can print a copy by clicking the Print box at the bottom of the screen. To return to the interview, click on the Step-By-Step icon in the top right of the blue bar.

I moved abroad in September 2024 and will return to the USA in September 2025. My understanding is that I can file an amendment to my 2024 tax return to account for the fact that I spent 4 months of the calendar year abroad. What is the procedure for filing such an amendment? Will I have to also file an amendment for the 2025 tax year, or can I already declare that I was away for 8 months when I file? Thanks.
Is it a dollar for dollar difference?  If I contribute let’s say $100 to my 403 B at work along with the 50% employer match, will I pay $100 less in taxes come April next year?

If someone is a licensed/ordained clergy and works for a ministry non-profit in a clergy-related role (but they do not work for a church), can they receive a housing allowance as long as their employer gives them a letter that they have designated a portion of their salary as a housing allowance? (like the jail chaplain example being discussed)

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities.  There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.   TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.   You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst
