You will get this message because of the following reasons: Your Personal Identifying Information (for example, Primary filer name, DoB, SSN, etc.) you entered in your TurboTax return doesn't match what you entered in the identity check prompt. If you have an existing Credit Karma Money account before applying for the Refund Advance loan and received the error message while confirming your information, you need to make sure your TurboTax return and your Credit Karma money account information match (for example, primary filer name, date of birth, and Social Security number). If you need to update any of this information, here's how: Sign in to your Intuit account. To update your user ID, password, email address, or phone number, select Sign in & security. To update your name, date of birth, address, or occupation, select Profile.

If you are trying to e-file your federal tax return you are being asked for the AGI that is on your 2024 Form 1040.   Where do I find my AGI?   https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/agi/help/how-do-i-find-last-year-s-agi/01/25947   Your 2024 tax return shows your 2024 Adjusted Gross Income  (AGI)  If you filed a joint return then the AGI is the same for each of you.   Form 1040        line 11   If entering the amount from your 2024 tax return does not work, then try entering “0” instead.  If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.   You can get a free transcript of your past return from the IRS:   https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript Note: If you filed late or amended your return, your correct 2024 AGI may not be in the system.  https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1944348-how-do-i-print-and-mail-my-return-in-turbotax-online Note:  If you mail your federal return, you will also need to mail your state return.  You will not be able to e-file your state return.

Thank you.  According to the parts of the instructions for Form 8606 that I've highlighted in red, it appears that the number on line 19 of the form would be 0 and I would not continue filling out the form as none of my Roth IRA distributions would be taxable since I opened the Roth in 1999.  I understand that Roth employer plans like my TSP and my husband's 401K have separate start dates, so if I opened a Roth TSP by doing a conversion this year, I would not be able to draw from it tax-free until 2031?  The question is, what portion of that Roth TSP withdrawal would be taxable in 2030?  I will have paid tax on the conversion amounts already, so is it just the earnings that would be taxable if I made a withdrawal in the first 5 years?  Are conversion amounts considered to be withdrawn first, or are conversions and earnings withdrawn on a pro-rata basis so if conversion amounts that have already been taxed aren't taxed again, a small percentage of the distribution due to the earnings will be taxed the year of distribution?   I could avoid this entirely I suppose by continuing to do a direct rollover from my TSP to a traditional IRA, then convert that to a Roth since it appears the Rollover Roth would inherit the opening date of my first Roth, but unless my husband rolls his Roth 401K to a Roth IRA upon retirement, he would have to wait 5 years from 2025 (when he opened his Roth 401K with an in-plan conversion) to withdraw from that tax-free.

Hi, thanks for these tips. I did something similar to what you told me but could never find the step entitled "Retirement Income Exemption vs. 65 Special." Any way I undid the overrides and did most of what you said that I could find and now my AR refund jumped to 1100 which is exactly the amount of taxes I paid to the state of Arkansas in 2025 in estimated payments. Does this sound right? My new entries still show in red like they are errors. So I don't know, I'm going to go back and double check all this. Thanks for your suggestions and please let me know if you have more. Thanks

You are seeing this because the amount of Medicare taxes withheld in box 6 is not exactly 1.45% of the Medicare wages in box 5, due to rounding.   DoninGA found that if you remove any cents for the Medicare wages (Box 5), this will clear the need for Form 8959.   Double check your entries for your W2s. You could have a Box 6 withholding error or misplaced decimal point in Box 5 (e.g., entering $50,000.00 as $500,000) will trigger the form. Go to Wages & Income and select Edit/Add next to your W-2. Check Box 5 and Box 6 for every W-2 entered. Ensure Box 6 is exactly 1.45% of Box 5. If it is off by a few cents (e.g., the W-2 shows $145.01 instead of $145.00), rounding it to the nearest dollar may remove the form requirement. If the amount in Box 6 (Medicare tax withheld) is more than 1.45% of the amount in Box 5 (Medicare wages), TurboTax must generate Form 8959 to claim a refund of that overpayment. Even a discrepancy of $1 due to employer rounding can trigger this.   If your W2 entries are correct, delete the form: Select Tax Tools from the left menu, then Tools. Select Delete a form. Find Form 8959 and click Delete. Note: If the data in your W-2 still points to an overpayment, TurboTax will automatically re-generate the form during the final review.
There was a delay in an update to the TurboTax desktop program but that should have gone through by now.  Are you still seeing this error?
