No. You do not need to submit anything separately to the state of NY. The states get this information from the IRS, so there is no additional steps needed for the state on your part.

Sounds like something got stuck. You can try these things:
Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu.
Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website.
Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms.
Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit."
Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.
Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

We are not in a position to make a definite assessment. We do not know the nature of the lawsuit nor whether there were distributions that may or may not have been taxable. Your legal counsel may be helpful to you.
If you received a 1099-MISC for a lawsuit settlement with income in box 3, the income is likely taxable as other income.
This TurboTax Help and this IRS Publication may give you insights into the settlement that you received. Contact here should you have questions.

@bluepig2020 My form 8283 showed up after i ran this morning's "Desktop" Software update (29 January) I did visit/edit my Charity which required the form 8283 and stepped thru it first (didn't change anything). Did that before looking to see if the form 8283. So I don't know if it was there just before or not. __________________ I have no idea if the overnight update put the form 8283 there in the "Online" software or not, so those folks should first download a PDF of their "filing" copy to see if it's there.

Please clarify your situation - which version of TurboTax are you using? Were you working with a TurboTax Expert? Why do you believe your return information has been lost?

First, check to see if you signed up for the TurboTax Refund Advance. You can look in a few specific places in your account or your email.
Check Your TurboTax Order Details
On the Tax Home page, scroll down to the section for "Your tax returns & documents."
Select View Order Details.
Look for "Refund Advance" or "Credit Karma Money" listed under your payment and refund methods.
If it’s not there, you likely selected a standard direct deposit or a different refund option.
Look for Confirmation Emails
If you applied, you should have received automated emails from TurboTax and its partners.
From TurboTax: Search for an email confirming your "Refund Selection."
From Credit Karma: If you were approved, Credit Karma sends an email when the funds are deposited into your Credit Karma Money Spend account.
From WebBank: If your application was denied, you will receive an email from WebBank (the lender) explaining the reason for the decline.
Check Your Credit Karma Money Account
Because the Refund Advance is deposited into a Credit Karma Money™ Spend account, checking that account is the fastest way to see if the loan was processed.
Log in to your Credit Karma account.
Navigate to the Money tab.
If you see a pending or completed deposit for a portion of your refund (typically between $250 and $4,000) shortly after the IRS accepted your return, that is your Refund Advance.
Review Your Tax Return Summary
You can also find clues on your actual tax forms:
Open your 2025 return in TurboTax
Go to the Tax Tools menu on the left
Select Print Center
View your Federal Information Worksheet
Look at the "Direct Deposit" section
If you signed up for the advance, the bank account listed will be the MVB Bank account associated with Credit Karma, rather than your personal bank account.

If you are still seeing a "Pending" status, here is the explanation:
On the official opening day (Jan 26), millions of people hit "Submit" at once. The IRS limits how many returns it pulls from the software providers' servers per hour to prevent their systems from crashing.
Your return is likely sitting in the "digital waiting room." It will stay Pending until the IRS computer actually "downloads" it and actually accepts or rejects it.

Thanks for the straightforward and definitive answer. And Thank YOU for not dodging the actual question. I can take the appropriate steps to work around this as part of my turbotax routine and move on. My wife and I have found that TurboTax is the easiest to use, is mostly very intuitive, and has a great user community, so we are not leaving! mikeurndle
