SAVE YOUR TAX RETURNS !
EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records. That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.

You cannot change the tax year. The current online program is for 2025 only. Only a 2025 return can be prepared online and only a 2025 return can be e-filed.
Online preparation and e-filing for 2022, 2023, and 2024 is permanently closed.
Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.
To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2022, 2023, or 2024 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

Refunds for tax years 2021 or earlier have been forfeited and will not be paid to you even if shown on the tax return form. But if you owe tax due, you will still have to pay, and you will be billed later for the interest and penalties owed. TurboTax will not calculate the penalties or interest. That will be done by the IRS/state after they receive your return with your payment of the tax due as shown on the tax form(s).
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

You have not mentioned his age.
If your son is under the age of 24 you can still claim him as a qualified child and say that he lived at home in VA since living away at school is a "temporary absence." In that case he would have to file a NON-resident NY return and a resident VA tax return. The non-resident return must be prepared first before the VA return.
If he is over 23, you cannot claim him as a qualified child dependent. If he is over 23 and earned more than $5200 he cannot be a qualified relative dependent. He will have to file a NY tax return since he lives and works in NY. What makes him consider himself a VA resident is puzzling.

While you have been filing alone, Married Filing Jointly (MFJ) is almost certainly your best move, even if your wife has no "taxable" income.
The Benefit: Filing jointly doubles your Standard Deduction (likely around $30,000 for the 2025/2026 tax years). It also makes you eligible for several family tax credits that are restricted or denied to those who file as "Married Filing Separately."
The "Resident Election": Since you are a resident alien and she is (presumably) a nonresident or G-4 visa holder, you can make a Section 6013(g) election. This treats her as a U.S. resident for tax purposes. You can make this election within TurboTax
If your wife has a Social Security Number or ITIN, you may file this return electronically. If not, you will need to file a W7 form with your return and then print and mail the return. Here is a link for the form W7 and its instructions.
Since today is April 15, you may wish to apply for an extension in your return. Go here to file the extension.

You don't mention if it is on-line or desktop version. It makes a difference. Th previous reply looks like an "on-line" fix. If it is desk-top, it is a bit easier MOST of the time. You need to address each of the errors that were noted. You almost certainly will get to repeat that process each time you fix something. I almost always note some additional "findings" to address each time I fix something. Keep working through it, that should finally result in a p[rompt to go on to the next step. Good luck.
