The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO.  You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)   The deduction is not on the same line as your standard deduction.  It is shown separately on line 13b.     2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS SINGLE $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind + $2000) MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind +1600) MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500  (65 or older/legally blind + $1600) HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)     For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra  deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.   (The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)   The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e.  Turbo Tax automatically includes it. IRS Schedule 1-A https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/f1040s1a--dft.pdf   Need to see it? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/preview-turbotax-online-return-filing/L77WCkvnu_US_en_US?uid=m681fkhr   If you are not getting the senior deduction it is because Your date of birth in MY INFO shows that you were not 65 by the end of 2025 Your income is too high You are filing married filing separately

Here's how to enter tips from self-employment in TurboTax Online:   Go to the Self-Employment topic under Income in the Federal section Answer Yes on the Did you have any self-employment income or expenses? screen. If you land on the Your 2025 self-employed work summary page, select Review next to the work you're adding income for. Answer the questions on the following screens until you arrive at Let's enter the income for your work. Select Other self-employed income. Select the checkbox if you have tips to report.  Tips that qualify for the deduction are on a 1099 form and are included in the gross income box of the form. The forms don’t have a separate box just for tips.  Tips that aren’t included in the gross income box of a 1099 form are not currently eligible for the tips deduction. If your tips weren’t included on a 1099 form, then your tips aren’t deductible.         You can still report these tips on your tax return, even if they aren't eligible for the deduction right now. Their eligibility may change in the future. If it does, then your tips info will already be saved in TurboTax. @Sharmon

I  contacted TAS for assistance with a delayed 2024 refund,  but I did not claim financial hardship. As advised by their own agent, I'm eligible for assistance due to excessive delay. Agent says, expect 30 days for someone to be allocated to your case. I'll let you know if anything happens before Thanksgiving.   @MonikaK1  @janicerubin
Should be reported and deducted in full. How do I correct?

Sounds like something got stuck. You can try these things:   Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu. Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website. Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms. Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit." Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.   Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

Which state return are you trying to file? Usually this issue happens with New York State's returns.    If you have a New York 8–10 digit alphanumeric code ID, follow ‌the words "IDUSA,” then, do not include "IDUSA" in your entry; start with the three characters immediately after it.   If is another state, it’s good you to know that in many states, providing a driver's license or state ID is optional. So, if the issue prevents you from continuing, try leaving the field entirely blank to see if you can continue.   If your state requires to enter your ID number, then delete the entry completely and type it in manually to remove any hidden formatting or spaces.   If the error persists, clear your web browser’s cache and cookies. The benefits may be taxable depending on the amount of other income you have entered on your tax return. However, if the Social Security benefits is the Only income to be reported on the tax return and there is no federal income taxes being withheld, then there is no reason or need to file a tax return. Unless you also received a Form 1095-A for your health insurance through one of the State Marketplace Exchanges or from healthcare.gov then you must file a tax return.   To enter Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099 Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business) Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business) Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown) Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security On Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099), click the start or update button
