It doesn't in your case. SIMPLE and SEP IRAs are types of retirement plans, but don't apply to your situation. You should answer no and move on.

I graduated college in Fall 2025. I still received a 1098-T form from my school.
As stated before, I have never claimed this or any other credit on my tax return before.
This time was not caused by a gap year or anything, just the amount of time it took me to gather the 120 credits to graduate.
TurboTax states that I am eligible for $1,000 toward my refund for this credit. Is this true?
I want to ensure that my understanding is correct before I continue filing my return.
All help and feedback is greatly appreciated!

Not sure what you are trying to do. A self employment business return goes on schedule C in your personal 1040 tax return. You don't file it separately. Do you mean you need to do a tax return for a different person? Sorry Online is only good for 1 return per account. And you need a different email address for each account. You can start another return in TurboTax Online by: Logging out if you are in your account Choose what TurboTax Online product you want to use for the second return https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/compare/online Create your account screen Set up a new login for the second return Start working on the new return Or use the Desktop program. The Desktop program can do unlimited returns and efile 5 for free. And you can use any Desktop version, they all have the same forms. So you could use a lower version than you might need in the Online version.

You can either enter it in the expense section of your Schedule C with a description that will help you recall what it is such as "income earned in year 20XX" or if the income is entered as cash and not via 1099-NEC you can simply reduce that number by the appropriate amount.

Hello. Hope you are doing great. I think I need the help of a human at Intuit to timely fix a programming error by the IRS or Intuit. I wrote yesterday: "I, too, entered the correct 2024 AGI. The Federal and the associated State of Kansas submissions are rejected. I see answers that suggest to enter "0" for the AGI or snail mail it. No advice explained what to do about the money that was sent to IRS on my credit card and the Intuit fee for the state submission both being collected again. Please point me to a more comprehensive answer and settlement." I haven't seen a response. To better clarify, I hope, I want to resubmit my son's taxes to IRS and State of Kansas before the 15th, but would like your professional help on how to do it to avoid paying again. The Intuit turbotax app is directing me to resubmit everything again with duplicate payments instead a necessary human intervention to connect to my earlier credit card payments of $256 to IRS and the $20 to Intuit for the state Kansas electronic filing. dalebunn

Turbo tax online has restrictions when filing MFJ on Fed and both husband and wife live in different states. In this situation, TurboTax recommends using Desktop version, create MFJ for Fed and make a copy of the file and change status to MFS on state, remove partners income and file State as MFS manually.
How do I prepare a joint federal return and separate state returns? In this case, if the properties are co-owned, the income, expenses and depreciation has to be split 50/50. What a pain.

Thank you, this is very clear and, along with the info in Pub 541, answers my questions. I appreciate it!

In the TurboTax Deluxe, there is no Federal>Other Tax Situations>Other Return Info>Identity Protection PIN. In the Forms section, there is a Federal Tax Info page (labeled "Info Wks"). In that form, at the bottom of the page, has space for both last year, and this years PIN. However, neither allows for 6 digits. I go to the IRS. On the IRS main page, a banner indicates "If you accessed your IP Pin on Jan 6, 2026, Due to a programming issue an incorrect IP PIN displayed on Jan 6, 2026. This has been fixed the the correct IP PIN is now in your Identify Protection PIN (IP Pin). Following the link, to the IP PIN page, it shows my pin as a 6 digits. Any workaround? Thanks
