TurboTax includes a worksheet for each rental property to record your entries. If you print/save your prior year return including all worksheets, you would then look for the "Schedule E Worksheet" for the property in question. Schedule E (IRS form) does not indicate if the property was marked "sold."     @ianm12

I have seen other quesitons regarding the bug but still no answers. The 1099Q I am trying to enter has zeros in box 2 and 3, which are not permitted by Turbo Tax. TuboTax states "Your box 1 gross distribution must equal the sum of box 2 earnings plus box 3 basis." However the tax law states "The amount in box 3 must equal box 1 minus box 2." Also I have a box 7 to entere but no way to do this in TurboTax. Please help!

If you indicate that you are part owner of a rental property and you enter your ownership percentage, TurboTax will automatically prorate the income and expenses you enter for that property based on your ownership percentage.   To view the ownership percentage for a rental property, go to Federal>Income>Rental Properties and Royalties (Sch E) in TurboTax Online.   Add/Edit next Rental Properties and edit the rental property (pencil icon).   At the top of the page you will see Rental Property Info. Edit that line item and scroll down to Ownership Percentage then Edit. Here you can indicate you are part owner and what percentage you own.

The 2025 TurboTax Deluxe program has space for 5 digits for the IRS Pin. My taxes have been rejected 5 times in the last two days. Contacting the IRS through their website (after seeing the Banner about the Pin problem), I find that my IP Pin is now 6 digits! The program doesn't allow 6 digits to be entered. Any one else have this problem? Thanks

I am trying to pay the IRS and my State tax today for 1099DIV and 1099B I overlooked after my return was accepted by both. I applied my 2025 refunds to my 2026 Estimated. I will focus on the completing the 1040 X after these payments are completed. The IRS does not allow me to make a payment to the 2025 1040 as I have a zero balance. There is even no drop-down option provided. Can I make the payment to the option for Notices CP2000, CP2501 or CP3219A as the note here is that "payments of this type may post in advance of the actual tax assessment". Is there a better option? Thank you very much  I appreciate your assistance your earliest convenience.

If you did not work for an employer you will not have a W-2.  W-2's come from employers.   If you are retired, you might have other forms of income such as Social Security, pension income, investment income, income from a retirement account like an IRA or 401k....etc etc. etc.   What tax documents do you have?     If you have literally NO income, then you do not have a reason to file a tax return.
No.  The windows would have been installed and usable in 2025 for you to claim the credit for 2025.

If you only want to e-file your federal return, you can easily deselect the state return during the final steps of the File section. Go to the File tab in the menu. Follow the screens until you reach "Just one more step" or "Select how you'd like to file." You will see a list of the returns you’ve prepared (e.g., 2025 Federal and 2025 State). Uncheck the box next to your state return. Continue with the prompts. TurboTax will show you a confirmation screen stating that you are e-filing Federal only.

There is one known user interface quirk in the tax year 2025 versions where the "Deductions & Credits" summary page shows a sales tax number, even if it isn't being used for your actual return. To see what is actually happening:   Online: Go to Tax Tools > Tools > View Tax Summary > Preview my 1040. Look at Schedule A, Line 5.  Desktop: Just switch to Forms Mode. You won't necessarily see the actual result from the input screens or summary page. If you are using a Desktop version, you can check to see what deduction has been used by going to Forms Mode - click Forms at the top of your screen.    From the list of Forms shown on the left of the Forms screen, find and click on Schedule A. There, you can see which items are included in the total for Taxes You Paid, and whether you get the benefit of itemizing your deductions.    If you are using Online, detailed calculation information can be found by navigating to Tax Tools > Tools > View Tax Summary > Preview My 1040 to access the Form 1040 Worksheet. This worksheet, specifically the Tax Smart Worksheet located between lines 15 and 16, provides the in-depth, step-by-step calculations for your tax liability. You will need to have paid for your product in order to see all of the worksheets.   See this TurboTax tips article for more information about Schedule A and itemizing your deductions. @user17760189621

If your return is under review your refund will be delayed.   MY RETURN IS UNDER REVIEW The IRS is getting more and more vigilant to prevent identity theft and fraud.   People who file very early in the season are sometimes scrutinized more.  Do not take it personally.   TurboTax does not get any information from the IRS after they accept your return, so no one at TT knows that your refund is delayed or why.  All you can do is wait for the IRS to finish processing your return.  Watch the refund site.  If the IRS wants more information from you they will request it. If they want you to verify your identity, you must follow the IRS’s instructions in order to do that.   In many cases they will send you a letter—and you will have to wait for that letter.
