I'm waiting on a refund from the state, which through turbo tax was going to pay the feds. It's April 10! Do I pay the feds myself by April 15th?

I am assuming this is for NY, as NY is very particular about the document entry. Enter the first 3 characters after, not including "IDUSA".  Some other users experienced errors with incorrect issue and expiry dates, so double check they are correct and not swapped as well.    For more information, see Where do I find my document number so that I can e-file my New York return?

Medicare wages and tips represent the total amount of income you earned that is subject to the Medicare tax, which is found in Box 5 of your W-2. This amount includes your base salary, tips, bonuses, and commissions, but it does not have deductions for 401(k) or other retirement contributions, so it is often higher than the "taxable wages" used for your income tax.    While the Social Security tax stops after you reach a certain income limit, the Medicare tax does not.

Federal section in the personal worksheet for your spouse, it asks for the state of residency on 12/31/2025? did you answer this  then it asks if she was a part-year resident of that state for which you should check the box then it asks for the date residency was established in that state enter the date  then it asks for the previous state of residency for which you should enter IL.  in the Illinois info worksheet check part-year resident. But there's a bug as you noticed because it only asks for one of the taxpayers. the actual Il-1040 does not ask it this way. Rather on form Il-1040-NR each of you enter your dates of illinois residency and for your spouse the other state and dates of residency. [MODS BUG ILLINOIS INFO WORKSHEET JOINT RETURN one a part year illinois resident  - only asks for one taxpayer]

I have a Schedule K-3 which reports foreign taxes paid but no foreign income. When I input the K-3 details into TT I get this error: "Total foreign taxes paid (line P) or foreign tax accrued has an amount listed but no entry has been made for foreign gross income or foreign sourced income at the individual level on the K-1 Additional Information worksheet line 1."   This is preventing me from claiming a substantial foreign tax credit. I didn't have any foreign income last year so I'm expecting to carry over these credits for future use. From reviewing the instructions for Form 1116, I'm pretty sure I qualify. I've checked with the partnership that generated the K-3 and they agree.   Does anyone know how to get around this? Any advice is much appreciated.
