It appears that you have triggered the Pro-Rata Rule with the remaining balance of $5 in the Traditional IRA, which is not related to the catch-up contribution. A $345 tax increase in CA (where the top brackets are roughly 9%–13%) suggests that TurboTax thinks roughly $3,500 to $4,000 of your previously "tax-free" conversion is now taxable. Since your Federal tax didn’t change, the issue is not the $5 balance itself. It is likely a basis discrepancy. Here is how to check: If you had a large rollover IRA or SEP-IRA from a previous job, the backdoor Roth, that large balance can be the cause, since a portion of your conversion is being taxed based on that total. If this is the case, the tax is technically correct. Check your California basis by going to your State return and ensure you have entered your total California basis for 2024. If California thinks you have a zero basis, it will tax the whole conversion. Ensure your total California basis for 2024 and prior is entered so that the state knows you’ve already paid tax on the money. Don’t change the 12/31 balance Even if you convert the $5 today, your balance on December 31, 2025 does not change. Therefore, ensure you have looked at the basis entries to make any adjustments. NOL carryforward from 2019 was supposed to be on the 2020 return and so forth. Whether the IRS will accept NOLs from closed years is unknown

If you have Medicaid then you will not receive a Form 1095-A. When asked about that form, just answer NO>

The OP has a valid question and this applies to me also. The APO address WILL NOT WORK. Technically the APO address is not a "post office box" but the software is flagging on more than this. Even if I take out "Box xxx" it will flag the "PSC" code. This never happened with the installed application as I've been using that for 10+ years, all with APO addresses, with no problem. This year decided to try the web-based product and this is one of a few problems I've found. Anyone at an APO address actually find a way forward?

On Amazon the program foe preparing the 1120S is $189.00. The H&R version is $89.00. For the first time I went away from TT for the 1120S (although I did stay with TT for the individual return; on my wife's Windows 11). While the H&R block is a full $100 cheaper is is not user friendly and I may have made mistakes, however since I have a loss there wont be a problem. BUT, don't know if I will H&R again next year, unless TT tries to force me onto the "cloud" again.

TurboTax Smart Check is treating Capital Asset Sales dates as an error. TurboTax 2024 handled these dates without a problem.

@WTigner I agree but it's the way they've organized it recently for the Online users. they show all the stuff you've used before at the top of the page....then you have to "know" (somehow) to click on the text that displays the rest of the potential menu items down below. Ridiculous! And not intuitive either. They should just show the whole menu from the start....even if they continue to show the same items used last/this year at the top...always keep the full menu available.

I'm running to weird situation when I go through the Federal Review step using the TT's online or Cloud version. I've checked all 1099-INT forms I received and they have been filled up correctly. However. when I go through the "Federal Review" step it reports 3 1099-INT forms that need to be reviewed and when I clicked on them they are all empty/blank forms. It looks like a bug somewhere in the system where these ghost forms hanging in there and show up during final review. Unfortunately, there is no way to delete them. I'm hoping these are harmless warning and TT lets me proceed with my filing the return. Has anyone experienced similar issue ?

The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO. You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)
The deduction is not on the same line as your standard deduction. It is shown separately on line 13b.
2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS
SINGLE $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind +1600)
MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500 (65 or older/legally blind + $1600)
HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.
(The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)
The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. Turbo Tax automatically includes it.

If you are not getting the senior deduction it is because
Your date of birth in MY INFO shows that you were not 65 by the end of 2025
Your income is too high
You are filing married filing separately

Ok, but if you are depreciating over 7 years, what do you enter? 0? Or the depreciation for that tax year? This question is annoying.
