You can eliminate this issue by going to the Canadian pension section Under Canadian retirement summary, Click the trash can, and Don't click [continue] or anything. Go back to a different section of TurboTax. If this doesn't work, you can share your return with a specialist. The return will be "sanitized", meaning all names, Social Security numbers and personal references will be removed. We'll then be able to determine the source of the issue. If you agree, please follow these steps: In TurboTax Online Log into your TurboTax account Go to Tax Tools Then select Tools On the pop-up screen select Share my file with Agent This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us. Please provide the Token number in a reply to this post. Include @JohnB5677 in your reply so that I get a notification. In TurboTax CD/Download versions, Go to the black panel on your screen and select Online. Scroll down and select Send tax file to Agent. You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is. Click send through this screen, and you will get a Token number. Provide the Token Number (including the dash) that was generated in the response. Include @JohnB5677 in your reply so that I get a notification. @jmickelct

Here's how you can fix it:
Sign in to your account and select the Fix my return button. Follow any “fix it” instructions to update the information causing the rejection.
Note: Not all rejections will have explicit guides to fix the information. You’ll need to navigate to the program area to address the cause of the rejection.
Time-saving Tip: If what you originally entered is correct, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, a dependent that's already been claimed, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return. This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.
Additional reject instruction here.

If you had a distribution from a Traditional IRA or retirement plan that was converted to a Roth IRA, then the follow-up questions after you entered the Form 1099-R reporting the distribution would indicate that the distribution was converted to a Roth IRA.
You should revisit the Form 1099-R entry to be sure that the follow-up questions were answered accurately.
Go to Wages and Income > Retirement Plans and Social Security > IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (Form 1099-R) and click Update. This will show you a summary page of the Form 1099-R that you have entered. Edit each one and continue through all the follow-up questions.

Apparently I was pre approved from turbo tax for $3500 but denied from web bank and they didn’t send me any email or anything! The only email I have received was an email saying I’d get my advance when the IRS approved my refund. Nothing else. And when I look at my details on filing on turbo tax it says “refund transfer” and nothing about advance. I talked to Credit Karma and the told me turbo tax didn’t finish the advance paperwork. I said was it something I did and they said “no” and turbo tax told me that I was rejected by the bank. Which sucks bc I’ve never had the advance and I really needed it this year!! I checked my return and it only has the routing number and account for Credit Karma and says nothing about mvb bank.

I received $29 Nintendo ADR with $4.4 foreign tax withheld reported on 1099-DIV. That's my only foreign income. Based on the US-Japan treaty, Portfolio Dividends (Individual Shareholders) is typically subject to a 15% reduced tax rate. I believe that's the rate applied to my foreign tax withheld. One of the conditions to claim foreign tax credit without filing form 1116 is All of your foreign taxes were: Legally owed and not eligible for a refund or reduced tax rate under a tax treaty I'm a bit confused with this condition, which of the following two is right? - I'm already paying the 15% and there is no other treaty to further reduce the rate, so I meet the requirement and I don't need to file form 1116 or - The 15% rate I'm paying is a reduced rate because of the treaty, so I have to file form 1116 in order to claim the credit If I cannot claim the credit without form 1116, can I just completely give it up and enter 0 for foreign tax withheld when entering 1099-DIV as I don't want to spend time on form 1116 for $4? Thanks

Yes, the answer follows. Include July, 2025 ONLY if you actually had receipt and access to any interest or dividends earned in July by the 5th. If not, you can assume none of the July interest or dividends would be included. Basically, if nothing posted to your accounts by July 5th do not include July in your calculation for the California (CA) return.

@tomecekjonathan Hmmmm...maybe maybe not. IF the state area of your W-2 (boxes 15,16,17) only shows IA withholding and IA income. Then you don't prepare and file an IL nonresident tax return at all. (unless you had other IL income). IF that is the case, in the Personal Info section, you DO NOT say you worked in another states...since it is all treated As-If you worked in IA. _________________________ Deleting the IL non-resident tax return that was started with the "Online" software: How do I delete my state return in TurboTax Online?

If you do the recharacterization of your Traditional IRA contribution before the due date of your 2025 tax return, then it will be as if you did not make the Traditional IRA contribution at all.
This would be reported in TurboTax by going through the Traditional IRA contribution section of your return (because that is what was done during 2025) and answering the follow-up questions to state that the contribution was recharacterized to a Roth IRA.
To learn more, take a look at the following TurboTax help article:
What are IRA conversions and recharacterizations?

You don't use Form 5498 to report an IRA distribution/rollover. You should have received a Form 1099-R. When you enter your 1099-R, there will be a series of questions at the end. One of those questions will ask what you did with the money. Be sure to answer that you rolled ALL of the money into another qualified plan, or the same plan.

It worked in part, but... It deleted the item that I was trying to delete, but it added an "Untitled" at the bottom of the list. I tried following the same procedure to delete that item (deleting the blank form), but it repopulates the list with it each time when I go back to it.
