I did a AI search using Duck Duck Go and it indicated that Turbo Tax has updated the depreciation section but I also asked when TT got the guidance from the IRS and this answer appeared.    TurboTax received the updated guidance for the depreciation section following the IRS's release of Notice 2026-11 on January 14, 2026. This guidance clarified the permanent 100% additional first-year depreciation deduction for eligible property acquired after January 19, 2025, as part of the legislative changes from the One Big Beautiful Bill. However, TurboTax indicated that the depreciation calculations within their software are expected to be officially updated after February 13, 2026, specifically for Schedule E (Rental Properties), as the development takes time to implement the new tax rules.   If this is accurate (and I'm sure we'll never know) but one month to update seems like an excessive amount of time.  The average cost of a Super Bowl Ad was 8 million dollars.  Maybe TT could have paid additional employees to work on this issue rather than try for more unhappy customers.      But wait, there's more ...  so I just tried to update my TT desktop program and it was installing updates to the North Carolina forms, and the update for NC was completed.  HOWEVER, the "Program Update" cannot be completed indicated a Microsoft Installer Error with no known solution.  UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

Is transfer of stock considered distributions to beneficiaries and reported on Form 1041 allocated to each beneficiary?  The beneficiaries wanted the stock instead of selling.   Thanks
Greetings, the proposed solutions didnt work and the problem persists, may you please give me further instructions on how to tackle the issue?
Parent with dementia in a nursing home.  They use incontinence products on residents to address accidents.  Would you still need a Doctor to approve/authorize?  It is common sense.
I checked yesterday and again today, and it's still not ready. This is the last thing I need to file and the continued missed deadlines is frustrating. When can we really expect this to be ready?

Once you have created your second user account, you'll still have to Sign In and give your license code again. Your family will be able to use the program in that second account after that.  They need to choose 'start a new return' They won't see your account or tax returns as they give their own credentials when filing at the end (your return is in the first account).  The program still belongs to you, so any place you install it, you'll need to Sign In initially.    @SLYKTAX

Thank you so much for your answer.  I hadn't considered that the basis deduction was included in the federal AGI.  It also looks like the correct amount for the IRA distribution is included on page 2 of the retirement income exclusion worksheet.  But I don't quite understand why line 7a of the Income and Retirement Worksheets includes the $4000 credit for the disallowed contributions in 1985 & 1986 as well as being shown on line 7d.  Since the total appears to be correct, I guess I should just not worry about it!   Again, I very much appreciate your explanation.  It's very, very helpful!

Within the Illinois individual income tax return interview in TurboTax, there is a section entitled Education Credit with a series a questions.    If eligible for the credit, the following screen will show Education expense credit - eligible dependents. This area lists your dependents and asks you to indicate whether or not each dependent is eligible for the credit. (The credit is for dependents in school between kindergarten and twelfth grade.)    The next screen will be the Student Expense Summary, which lists each eligible dependent (from the previous screen). Click on the pencil icon beside the dependent's name to open a screen where you can indicate the student's grade, information about the school, and total tuition, book and lab fees.    The next screen will show your calculated education credit, which will carry to Schedule ICR (Illinois Credits) and Line 16 of your IL-1040 (Illinois Individual Income Tax Return).   See this link for more information on the Illinois Education Expense Credit

If your 2023 return was not filed, the only way to file it now is by mail.  E-filng is permanently closed for 2023 returns.   You need to print it, sign and date it in ink, and mail it in.  If you did not pay your TurboTax fees, you will need to pay before you can print the returns.   When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.     @user17709151500

TurboTax does not issue your refund.   Only the IRS is in control of issuing your refund.   Once you file your tax return, TurboTax gets no information from the IRS.    It is all up to the IRS.   You can track your refund on the IRS refund site.  First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst         If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund before early March   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US   Note:  “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”.  TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing.   Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing.  If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.   FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE: https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund How it works Where's My Refund shows your refund status: Return Received – We received your return and are processing it.
