Because your employer withheld Indiana taxes, you would need to file a nonresident Indiana tax return to claim the refund. You are correct that you would fall under the 30-day safe harbor (IC 6-3-27.5), but because you had the Indiana withholding you will want to file to get the withholding refunded.

I was able to get the correct entries on Form 8606 in the Desktop version by entering $7000 in the Total 2025 Traditional IRA contributions and also $7000 in the box for amounts contributed in 2026. For the online version, the forms are not viewable until the fees have been paid - you must have paid your TurboTax fees in order to view those, correct? Had you already submitted your return for e-filing for those screen shots you had taken?

It depends. You may enter this as a subtraction in the California state interview in the Any Pension or Annuity Adjustments section of the interview.

Yes---you can use online TurboTax with any device that has internet access. Frankly----using a phone to prepare something as important as a tax return seems careless to me---the screen is so small that it is difficult to see what you are doing. But it is possible and lots of users prepare their returns that way.

On your tax return, you can use any occupation you wish (bartender or server) as it has no effect whatsoever on your tax return.

We do not know what a "student bean discount" is. TurboTax is not offering any student discounts to the fees.

Possibly. If and how you can claim it would depend on a few things. Lifetime Learning Credit
You can take this for an unlimited number of years
Twenty percent of expenses up to $2,000
Non-Refundable meaning this can reduce the amount of taxes you owe, but if your tax liability is less than the LLC, your tax will be reduced to $0 and the rest of the credit is lost.
Can be used for courses to acquire or improve job skills
Must be enrolled at an eligible institution (ex. the course was take at a local community college)
The credit can be take for you or your dependent on your tax return
Medical Expense deduction
If it was a specialized school that teaches life skills for disable adults which would help alleviate the disability, you may be able to claim this as a medical expense IF you itemize your return.
"You can include in medical expenses the cost (tuition, meals, and lodging) of attending a school that furnishes special education to help a child to overcome learning disabilities. Overcoming the learning disabilities must be the primary reason for attending the school, and any ordinary education received must be incidental to the special education provided. Special education includes: • Teaching Braille to a visually impaired person, • Teaching lip reading to a hearing disabled person, or • Giving remedial language training to correct a condition caused by a birth defect. You can't include in medical expenses the cost of sending a child with behavioral problems to a school where the course of study and the disciplinary methods have a beneficial effect on the child's attitude if the availability of medical care in the school isn't a principal reason for sending the student there"
Itemized expenses include mortgage interest, gambling losses up to 90% or up to winnings (whichever is less), charitable contributions, state and local taxes up to $10,000, medical expenses in excess of 7.5% of your AGI and casualty and losses in excess of 10% of you AGI with the first $100 not counting towards the loss. Your health insurance and all medical expenses are only deductible for the amount that is over 7.5% of your AGI. This means if your AGI is $50,000, then the amount that is over $3,750 is deductible.
Then your total itemized expenses would need to be greater than your standard deduction below in order to benefit from your expenses.
The 2025 Standard Deductions are as follows:
Married Filing Joint (MFJ) $31,500
Married Filing Separate (MFS) $15,750
Head of Household (HOH) $23,625
Single $15,750
Blind or over 65 and MFJ or MFS add $1,600
Single or HOH if blind or over 65 add $2,000

The form is available so let's look at other possibilities.
1. MAGI too low MFJ- $250k, single/HOH $200k, MFS $125k
2.NIT is lower of investment income or amount over threshold. Investment income is passive income. If you have business or rental income and are marked active, it is not passive income. You may need to review your entries. Passive investments include interest, dividends, capital gains, passive rent and royalty income and passive business income.
3. The IRS has released the form but they tend to do more updates so this could be a factor. If you see Do Not File on the 8960, something is happening. You may be able to update software to fix the issue.
