I took family leave in 2021 and received a W2 from Hartford stating "Third party sick pay" in Box 13. Federal tax was withheld.  I filed using turbo tax and it seems like TT has marked that as a deduction in Schedule CA 540.    Fast forward now 3 years later, I receive a letter from the IRS saying that that 3rd party sick pay that was marked as a subtraction for CA was actually taxable and wants me to pay tax now.  I checked my other returns for the other kids and all of them have it as a subtraction, so I am not sure why they are complaining only about this one.   Questions: 1. Is it accurate that paid family leave is taxable for CA ? 2. Also did I make a mistake in TT while filing state taxes so it did this incorrectly? Generally i get asked no questions for state other than state credit. So i am wondering what i missed.   Thanks.

It’s such a scam. They charge me an additional $89 plus a $50 service fee, which is almost half of what my taxes return is supposed to be. I believe that we should file a class action lawsuit against TurboTax for this kind of corruption and misbehavior  to loyal customers that have been to filing their taxes with them for years and years.

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:   TurboTax Online: Sign into your online account. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.” This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response. TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions: Open your return. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” * This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us. Please provide the Token Number (including the dash) that was generated in the response. *(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)   @NYtoFL   
Sorry no.   Same answer as above.  Turbo Tax only supports the last 3 years, so only back to 2021.

I have the TurboTax 2020 Business installed. I forgot and apparently did not download the State version in 2020. Is there a way to still download the state and install it into my 2020 TurboTax Business?  
for example - if my like-for-like property needs to be $1.3m, will I be able to reduce that amount by calculating my tax bias for costs incurred selling the relinquished property?
