Whose money was deposited into the CD, and who will be receiving the money after the CD is withdrawn? The answer to that is the same answer to who reports the interest.

TurboTax indicates I should enter two separate K-1 entries to split the business vs. rental income. I did that initially and included all values on both, but reviewing my draft return, on Form 8995, it seems to be showing the same qualified business income(loss) on both lines. This leads me to believe that perhaps I shouldn't enter duplicate info in both entries??

I don’t understand your question. What are you trying to do? Are you asking about 2025 returns we file next year in 2026? Online is currently only for 2024 until Oct 15,2025 then it will close. Then in November or early December Online will open for 2025. Do you want to estimate 2025 taxes? The Desktop download program is only good for one year. You have to buy a new separate program for each year. Turbo Tax only supports and sells the last 3 years, so back to 2021.

The program for each year is specific to that year only.

Hi, Something went sideways with an TT Desktop 2023 update for MacOS Sequoia 15.5 today 2025-06-28. Sadly, I was in the middle of amending my 2023 return when this happened -- the app was already open from the last time I had time to work on my ammendmet. Now I'm stuck in a 'Install Update' -> 'Downloading Update' -> 'Install & Relaunch' -> 'Update Error An error occurred while relaunching TurboTax 2023, but the new version will be available next time you run TurboTax 2023.' -> 'Cancel Update' loop. When I 'Relaunch', the process starts over. Of course, it's the weekend and there is no support. Any ideas on workarounds? I can only work on this on the weekend... Thanks Chris

When you are signed onto your TurboTax online account and are accessing the 2024 tax return, click on My Info on the left side of the online program screen.

TT user for past 17+ years. We received a verification request letter. We have a federal MyID number and make all payments via our linked bank account. The point is that we are well known to the IRS. Our tax return showed us owing many thousands of dollars -- no refund. Verification must be done via telephone (voice) contact with IRS. Online is not possible. IRS number was busy -- we tried 19 times on different days over four months. Finally were put into queue and had to wait 57 minutes to talk to agent. Answering the questions required two years of tax returns be available and were somewhat invasive. Agent indicated that these verification requests are randomly issued, even for otherwise legitimate returns. Agent said that absent verification the return would not be processed. Time wasted was in excess of six hours over four months. As a product suggestion, TT could implement an improvement in their software so that the filer would not be subjected to this random approach by the IRS. Possibly even charge for the feature/service.

TurboTax software for 2018 is no longer available, nor would it be supported or updated even if you can find it on eBay, etc. And...you cannot use TT to prepare a "stand alone" state return for any tax year. When you use TurboTax, your information flows from the federal software to the state software. Your reasons to file a 2018 state return are puzzling and you do not mention who advised you to do so, but if you really need to prepare a return for 2018 for CO, seek local paid tax help.

I appreciate the feedback. My in laws have a mortgage on their house and have also accumulated a lot of other debt ( credit cards, loans, etc). They can afford the mortgage but not the monthly payments of the other debt. Their credit score isn’t good and won’t get approved for any loans. The idea was my wife and I issue a loan to them with deferred interest secured by their house which would get paid back when the house was sold. Definitely not the most ideal situation but just trying to keep them in their house.

@Jummy If the IRS is mailing your refund, you are at the mercy of the U.S. postal system. No one here can pinpoint the day the refund will arrive in your mailbox. Mailed refund checks can take average 7-10 days--and remember that there is a federal holiday with no mail coming up next week on July 4. So all you can do is watch your mailbox and open all mail even if it looks like junk mail.

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities. There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.
TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
https://www.irs.gov/refunds
To track your state refund:
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr
If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing

You have to go through all three steps of the FILE section -- Choose how you are paying your fees, make sure to choose how to receive your refund if you are getting a refund-- and the last thing you do is click a big orange button that says "Transmit my returns now."
HOW TO CHANGE OR ENTER BANKING INFORMATION FOR REFUND

You cannot change banking information while your return is in pending, nor can you change it after the return is accepted. The IRS does not allow it.
DID YOU E-FILE?
Did you e-file? Did you go through all three steps of the FILE section and click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”
When you e-file your return you will get two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say your return has been transmitted; the second one will tell you the IRS has accepted or rejected your federal e-file. If you filed a state return, there will be a third email (usually a day or two later) that tells you if the state e-file was accepted or rejected.
Check your e-file status:

Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.
