"Also, my son did not have a W2 last year, does he need to file separately?"
Did your son have any other taxable income? What does he have to enter on a tax return? We have no information about him; you have not mentioned his age, whether he was a student; etc etc.
Who has to file?

Extension for personal New York state income taxes here.
An extension does not give you more time to pay, it is only an extension of time to file.

If you are using the desktop version, then yes, you can file up to five returns. if you are using the online version, you would need to create a new account for her.

You don't, but keep records of the cost.
The cost of the land may be needed if your home is sold (after it is built).

My FT college student son is claimed as a dependent. His state of residence is Alabama but last summer he interned in Chicago for 2 months and earned W-2 wages. I am really confused on how to read his W-2 and confirm his residency status. His W-2 is 2 pages and has one for AL that includes his federal wages and AL state income taxes and a second page for IL with no federal wages but IL state wages and income taxes. Turbo Tax is trying to get me to confirm part-time residency in Illinois which is throwing off his AL return and creating double taxed income. Is that normal? Should I only report his residency is Alabama? THX!

Yes.
If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.
You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed.
You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.
Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.
The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due
Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected.
You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment
Select your product below and follow the instructions.

You should be able to type in 238190 if that was the business code you used last year.
The code is not all that important, but I would use the same code year after year unless your business service changes.
The code is useful to determine the types of expenses that would be related to that type of work.

Funds are usually withdrawn on the payment date you specify in TurboTax, assuming your e-filed return has already been accepted (received) by the IRS. If that date falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the funds are typically withdrawn the next business day.
If you file right before (or on) the April 15, 2025, deadline, the IRS may not be able to debit your payment until after the deadline due to high e-filing volume. Also, it can take your bank another few days to post the debit to your account.
As long as you file your return or extension on or before April 15, 2025, and you select April 15, 2025, or earlier as your payment date, you won't get penalized for late payment.
If you don't see the debit in your bank account 7–10 days after your return has been accepted, call IRS e-file Payment Services at 888-353-4537 or contact your state tax agency.
When will my tax payment go through?
