The address on your Certificate of Rent Paid (CRP) should be the address of the rental unit you lived in to claim the credit - which may or may not be the current address on your tax return. When you go through the MN tax return, you are asked enter the information on your CRP. When you go through the MN state return put a checkmark in the Renter's Credit box on the page titled Other Minnesota Credits. Answer YES on the Certificate of Rent Paid screen. Then enter the information as it appears on your CRP. You can add multiple CRPs.

Getting same TT "error 2" trying to e-file only TT Business FED returns. I tried the same steps by other users as above, then removed and re-installed the WIN application plus rescanned and reattached the 8453-FE at a lower resolution. Never had this issue in years past. Great suggestions from the user community, but continuing down this path for me is time-wasteful. I will print and mail in my returns this year. Intuit TurboTax -- shame on you for releasing product and imposing basic functionality testing on your User Community.

It was much too long and very different from the year before that, and it cost me more money because he added many forms.

No. You can’t claim the American Opportunity Credit or the Lifetime Learning Credit if you’re claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return. Also, the same expenses can't be claimed twice on separate tax returns. Here are 2 articles you may find helpful: Education credits - AOTC and LLC, How do Education Tax Credits Work?

No, there is not federal tax credit for paying rent. Depending on which state you live in, there might be. Which state do you live in?

Well it's April 7 and I've disabled my firewall/antivirus, my Windows 10 is up to date, and I've made sure TT is updated as well, restarted my modem/router, etc. Still get the import unsuccessful "internal server error" message. I didn't buy TT so I could MANUALLY input everything (Vanguard statement a lot - 1099B and 1099Div and foreign stuff as well). I couldn't import my W2s this year either. Seems like every year there is another glitch that makes the reasons I pay for TT null/void. As it seems TT doesn't really care about this (given the lack of support on this thread), I will def be looking for another product next year.. If I hadn't already put in a lot of info, I'd switch right this minute.

I'm not using Turbo Tax Online. I bought the download. Most of those links would not apply, but I will try the suggested fix in the second one when I get back to my computer. Thank you.
