No, there is not federal tax credit for paying rent. Depending on which state you live in, there might be. Which state do you live in?

Well it's April 7 and I've disabled my firewall/antivirus, my Windows 10 is up to date, and I've made sure TT is updated as well, restarted my modem/router, etc. Still get the import unsuccessful "internal server error" message. I didn't buy TT so I could MANUALLY input everything (Vanguard statement a lot - 1099B and 1099Div and foreign stuff as well). I couldn't import my W2s this year either. Seems like every year there is another glitch that makes the reasons I pay for TT null/void. As it seems TT doesn't really care about this (given the lack of support on this thread), I will def be looking for another product next year.. If I hadn't already put in a lot of info, I'd switch right this minute.

I'm not using Turbo Tax Online. I bought the download. Most of those links would not apply, but I will try the suggested fix in the second one when I get back to my computer. Thank you.

Are you sure your return wasn't rejected for another reason?
Here's how you can fix it:
Sign in to your account and select the Fix my return button. Follow any “fix it” instructions to update the information causing the rejection.
Note: Not all rejections will have explicit guides to fix the information. You’ll need to navigate to the program area to address the cause of the rejection.
Time-saving Tip: If what you originally entered is correct, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, a dependent that's already been claimed, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return. This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.
Additional reject instruction here.

I am not sure what form you are asking about. Line 18 of Form 1040 does not correspond to your question.
If you are asking about Box 18 of your Form W-2 Box 18 reports the total amount of wages subject to local income taxes. You may also have multiple local W-2 forms if you worked in more than one locality during the year. Many times, this will be the same number as the earnings listed in boxes 1 and 16. This will be blank if an employee does not pay any local taxes.
If you believe your W-2 was issued incorrectly, you should contact your employer/payroll company to discuss and have a corrected form issued if necessary. In general, you should enter your Form W-2 into TurboTax as it is shown.
The instructions for Form W-2 Box 18 say the following: Boxes 15 through 20—State and local income tax information (not applicable to Forms W-2AS, W-2CM, W-2GU, or W-2VI). Use these boxes to report state and local income tax information. Enter the two-letter abbreviation for the name of the state. The employer's state ID numbers are assigned by the individual states. The state and local information boxes can be used to report wages and taxes for two states and two localities. Keep each state's and locality's information separated by the broken line.
