How did you finish early?  You can't enter the 1099R  yet.   And you have to report ALL your income on the same tax return.     How old are you?  You didn't actually pay the tax or the 10% penalty (you pay a 10% early withdrawal penalty if you are under 59 ½). You had taxes withheld like from your paycheck. You still have to enter the whole gross amount (before taxes were withheld) with your other income to figure out the total tax (and it may put you into a higher tax bracket and can reduce any credits) and then the withholding is subtracted from the total tax to figure your refund or tax due. The Gross amount shows up on 1040 line 4a or 5a and the taxable amount on 4b/5b. The withholding will show up on 1040 line 25b.

Why does TT prompt me to put in my state income tax return amount to determine whether it is taxable income ? It also asks whether my last year's return was itemized or standard deduction. I have always done standard deduction and have never received a 1099-G form from my state to file for a tax return I received. It is just strange to me.   Why would someone receive a 1099-G form anyway? Thank You.

I encountered the same problem with transfering the tax2024 file into the new Turbo Tax for 2025... this is on an old iMac from 2013 upgraded with OCLP to run MacOs Sonoma 14.8.2 I was worried my equipment wasn't going to work, but I simply quit TurboTax 2025 and then relaunched it, and then the transfer process worked fine with no problems.  So, based on my experience I recommend trying to quit and relaunch TurboTax 2025 and then re-trying the transfer process to see if it works.

No, you  can't add a W-2C form for 2024 to your 2025 tax return. You may need to amend your 2024 taxes if your income, taxes, or deductions have changed on the W2-C. Compare the information in boxes 1-20 on your W-2C with your original W-2. If the amounts differ, you can file an amendment for 2024. If the new information doesn't change your original refund or balance due, there's no need to file an amendment.   Please review the TurboTax Help articles Refer to the TurboTax Help articles How do I add a W-2, W-2c or form after I've already filed?  and How do I amend my federal tax return for a prior year? for specific instructions.

She is a Chinese citizen and has been here for many years. Her international employer is giving her a statement of taxable earnings that begins when she became a permanent resident in August, but I don't think it will say partial year. We have decided to report whatever the investments 1042-S says for income in Box 2 as realized capital gains but there is no Schedule K-1s, so I guess we don't have to report interest or dividends? We are taking the standard deduction because we have negligible itemized deductions.
