Question, since i am a student, an aerospace and medical engineering student to be precise, money is tight. I do not have the funds to pay $60 to have turbo tax fill out the school schedule 1form.
Is there a way to file just my income tax for free with turbo tax, then mail in the schedule 1 and other school stuff?
if not, then what forms do i need to do the old school way for taxes(1040ez etc etc), and school credits?
thanks

TurboTax also has another free product called the Free File Edition (not to be confused with the regular Free Edition). It has free Federal preparation and free State preparation. There is no efiling fee. It is not available after October 15
The Free file Edition can handle a 1099-MISC.
The Free file Edition is more fully-featured than the regular Free Edition. The Free File Edition can prepare Schedule A, C, D, E, and F that the Free Edition cannot.
To qualify for free 2020 federal and state tax returns through the IRS Free File Program delivered by TurboTax, you just need to meet one of these requirements:

can it handle school forms because i keep getting told by turbotax.com that i need to upgrade in order to do my school credits such as AOC, and schedule 1 forms.
TurboTax is offering free federal and state tax filing with TurboTax Free Edition, if you have a simple tax return, The 1098-T is not included on a simple return category The Free verson of Turbo Tax will not allow 1098-T but the IRS Free version will.
The 1098-T is used to report education expenses paid to a higher educational institution. If you qualify, you may receive up to $2,500 American Opportunity Credit of which 60% is non-refundable and will be used to lower tax liability, and forfeited if liability is zero, and he remaining 40% is a refundable credit.
See,how to switch to IRS free version, link.

i know what a 1098-T is...
I would like to know if i can use the IRS free file program and IF that includes school deductions and forms such as 8863, schedule 1 etc?
Also, there is no option to switch over. I followed the link instructions EXACTLY and it never asks me to switch to the IRS free file program. It just signs me back into turbotax.com were i left off last week. This is the BIGGEST HASSLE i have ever had to deal with. Hell, funerals are easier than turbotax...

Yes, the TurboTax Free File program includes all those forms and schedules along all with all the other forms and schedules required to complete a personal tax return - IRS Free File Program delivered by TurboTax (intuit.com)
