TurboTax is offering free federal and state tax filing with TurboTax Free Edition, if you have a simple tax return, The 1098-T is not included on a simple return category The Free verson of Turbo Tax will not allow 1098-T but the IRS Free version will.
The 1098-T is used to report education expenses paid to a higher educational institution. If you qualify, you may receive up to $2,500 American Opportunity Credit of which 60% is non-refundable and will be used to lower tax liability, and forfeited if liability is zero, and he remaining 40% is a refundable credit.
