Throughout the program you can enter text in explanation sheets. Where do I find these in the future years? Doesn't make sense to go thru all that bother to be detailed when they don't print with the full package (even when printing all forms and all worksheets.)

The supporting details print on a separate page at the very end of the PDF. The heading and bookmark are "Additional Information From 2022 Federal Tax Return." It is included when you select "Tax Return, all calculation worksheets," or when you print just the 1099-R and select "Form and supporting statements" or just select "Form 1099-R" if you print while viewing the 1099-R in forms mode.
Please provide a specific example. Almost everything is captured on the work sheets.
And of course, now I can't find it. It's the section where you can enter details for the conversion from an IRA to a Roth. I thought I went to forms, and next to the dollar value there was a box that I clicked on. An 'explanation sheet' came up, and I was able to type in text such as convert 2 shares of appl from IRA to Roth IRA on 2-23-2022.
I'm pretty sure the same problem occurs where you can detail your maintenance expenses for rental property. That sheet doesn't print either.
Specifically, I found an example. From the 2021 form, but it would be the same with 2022. Turbotax Premiere. Go to form 1099-R line 1. Put a number in for Gross Distribution. Click on the '+' sign. This opens a supporting details box. Enter supporting details. This information does not print when I print the entire tax set of forms and worksheets.
I have desktop Deluxe. I'm not getting a "+" to click on at the 1099-R screen.
Are you in the FORMS section and do you have a dollar value in that cell? See $xx.xx in below image. Click on the dollar value and the plus sign should appear. Then click on the plus sign.
That's the 1099-R worksheet. You are correct The "+sign notes" are not saved to the pdf file. But they are saved to the .tax file. That is, you still have the 2021 software on you computer, you have that "document". You also are given a chance to print the "+sign notes".
Use of that function is pretty rare. I'll pass your comment along to TT. I'm curious, why do you think you needed to enter something there?
Hypothetically speaking, a person could move 2 shares of stock A @$12 each , 3 shares of stock B @ $13 each, 9 shares of stock C @ $39 each. In the future it would be nice to go to the printed forms and see what those values were at the time of the moved since not all financial sites have that level of detail after the fact.
Similarly, in another form for rental property maintenance expenses, it would be nice to see each one individually.
You said, "You also are given a chance to print the "+sign notes". At what time is this option given?
When you open the worksheet and click on the +, you get a pop up to enter your info. At the top of the pop up screen is a print button.
Also note there's a check box if you don't want it to print. This leads me to believe that this is automatically printed when you later print all your forms and work sheets (I didn't try it).
Nope. I have the box unchecked, it did not print. I printed the pdf to a file. You don't need to print to paper to verify it doesn't print.

I made a screen shot from my 2021 Home & Business program. I'll have to check my 2022 program later.
When I click on Print in Forms Mode it gave me the 1099R and the Additional Info sheet.
