When you use the "Delete a Form" tool in TurboTax, you also have to delete any forms and worksheets that are associated with the Schedule D.
Why is this necessary? - The Schedule D is created by the program when you enter transactions that are reported on a Schedule D (e.g. 1099-B, 1099-DIV). Unless you delete those entries first, you cannot delete the Schedule D.

do I delete forms in TurboTax Online?
After deleting any associated entries, worksheets and statements, log out of the
program. When you log back in, use the Delete a Form tool (List of Forms
in My Return) to confirm these entries, worksheets and statements have been removed
from your return.
