Why would CA state return still show as pending after 2 days?

It’s not one or five people that have the same issue. There are a lot of us having the same issue. Please keep us updated on how Turbo Tax will resolve the issue. @GabiU

This just doesn't seem accurate. I filed my taxes on February 5th.  of course I saw the notification saying that the IRS will be processing returns on February 12th.  my son did his taxes on February 13th and both his state and federal cleared on February 13. However my state taxes Are still pending but my federal cleared.   The only difference  I am seeing is that I owe state taxes this year,  however I keep getting the same answers,  that California taxes can stay in pending for a while. But it doesn't make sense when people just filed their state taxes and immediately gor accepted. This is stressing me out. When will my state taxes get accepted or rejected... ugh

It seems that all of us who filed early are in the same boat. Ca tax return is pending on turbo tax site and CA FTB shows it not being filed. Whatever the glitch is Turbo tax needs to fix it. My girlfriend filed on the 12th, hers was accepted  I filed early and am stuck like the rest of you

Same boat:  Taxes filed Feb 13.  Expecting refunds from both Federal and State.  Federal accepted within an hour.  State (California) still in pending,  four days later.  I emailed a *significant* number of people on the referenced webpage, earlier today, not sure if any of them will respond, or how long a response might take.  Does anyone have a phone number that gets to a knowledgeable human?  We've all paid extra for a service that isn't working.... very disappointing!

I filed both the Fed and State on the 15th, making sure all the updates were installed on Turbotax.  The Fed return was accepted within an hour.  the CA state return still shows pending > 48 hours later

I just received an email - at 10:12 PM Pacific time! - from an actual human at the Intuit office of the President.  The response was personal, and indicated that my email had been read.  The sender stated essentially the same thing that was just posted two posts above this one - that there is something in my return that, had it been submitted, might have caused it to be rejected.  Intuit is doing an extra review, with the potential outcome that they might be able to resolve the issue and submit it, or send me instructions telling me how to fix it, and that the process might take an additional 48 hours.

I have to say, despite the frustration we're all feeling - that was pretty impressive, and appreciated.

And given the post above, it looks like they're on it now, and we all need to just hang in there a little longer.

@GlenB1 , thank you for the update. They should send a mass email so people are aware of the situation. Plus, they will avoid all of the questions from their clients. I hope to see something on their social media soon 🙂

I don't appreciate anything about a Canned response from the Office of the President

Now you have Admins on this site repeating the same thing.

The Office of the President provided a canned copy and paste message without asking for any specific information.

You can't tell me everyone within 48 hours is going to get a response from TurboTax about their return being rejected because that is not going to happen.

It is disingenuous for Turbotax to spread this information around giving people a false sense of caring. They got caught with enough people complaining about the issue that now they create a generic response to let everyone know they are working the issue instead of being proactive and looking at the issue a week ago and prior when they realized multiple 540 form changes were made from beginning of Feb till now.

Piss poor response from Turbotax on this matter, and still not taking any accountability for this issue

Hmm..yeah not sure what the flag/concern was since usually all the check/reviews are done prior to submitting both Fed/State!  I had an issue with my State return in review and went back and corrected!  No flags after.  I owe Fed and paid (Accepted).  State refund, 'pending'.  If something was wrong kinda too late now to catch for Fed and they gots my bread!!!  So what's up with my State?  Hoping to minimize my losses.

There were multiple changes made to the 540 form. I know this because I have not filed my return yet but I did file my parents early as they already had all their documents.

When I went back to add more information to mine just a week ago there were 2 different errors on the 540 form which were not present when I filed my parents.

The software will catch errors as the form updates and it looks for fields which are empty or not complete.

I just sent a blistering email to the Office of the President and also CC'd the CEO and VP.

The copy and paste canned response is not only disingenuous but now they have set the expectation that everyone who is waiting will now get a response within 48 hours. This is not only unrealistic but further damaging to their PR when 48 hours come and go and most still have not received anything.

Further Turbotax has failed to be proactive. They knew very well the multiple updates since the early filers have caused errors on the 540 return. Rather than contact the customers and kick the returns back for correction, they remained silent until some of us contacted the VP to bring visibility into the issue, but add insult to injury you have these "experts" and admins spreading false information about the transmission process between turbotax and the state. In my case the customer service rep on the phone was just as frustrated because he was contacting level 2 support and they told him my return was filed when it was Not and confirmed by FTB it was never received.

Turbotax needs to be transparent in all this and stop this nonsense of copying and pasting unrealistic messages and take ownership of the problem.

Sooo... the finger pointing at the IRS, FTBs and the individual states was, what, a deflection?  Yeah, not a great look at all.
