If it shows ''in process'', that means that only the IRS knows what the delay is, unfortunately. They are reviewing something on your return, but that something could be anything. You can either try contacting them or wait for correspondence that will arrive by US mail.
Tax Season Refund Frequently Asked Questions - Link lists possible reasons for the delay. @Arlene915
Here is a link to a thread that details how to go through the automated phone prompts to reach a live representative. The steps may save you some frustration. You can also search for a local IRS office in your area. It may be easier to contact a local representative than using the main phone number. You can use the ''make an appointment'' option even if you have no intention of going to the office, but that may get you a live person on the phone (making appointments at most locations is NOT automated) that can provide you some info. They have access to the same information.
You can check your fees by clicking on Tax Tools on the left. Then choose Tools and from there, click on My Fees. This should show a breakdown of the fees you are incurring. What fee are you asking about?
The IRS issues refunds, not TurboTax. This means that we can't say for sure why you haven’t received your refund if it's been longer than 21 days since you e-filed. You'll have to speak directly to IRS to find out more about the delay.
When to contact the IRS - use the contact options above to speak with a live representative if you decide to contact the IRS.
I did not file with Turbotax. Turbotax submitted my return and was rejected 2 times. I was never given an explanation. I was charged $117 but nothing was conveyed to me about the problem. Please refund me and take my name off your list. My return was efiled with another source. I hope Turbotax is not the reason for the holdup of my refund. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Turbo tax, your software failed everyone on unemployment last year that get social security widows benefits! I have used turbo tax since 2013 and this will be the last year I do so.
you would think that when you “fixed” your system to allow for the 10,200 unemployment that most Americans were on that you would have fixed the glitch in software that takes the balance of unemployment amounts over the 10,200 and KNOW that social security money is only taxed on EARNED income and unemployment is not EARNED income! YOU HAVE SCREWED so many filers and won’t admit it. Some of us legitimately need this money to spread out over the year, especially widowed single moms raising a child!!! You completely SUCK turbo tax and QUIT making excuses and cut, copying and pasting information in reply to pissed filers who were duped by Turbo tax and filed with you! TURNO TAX NEEDS TO OWN UP ON THIS ONE AND REPORT THEIR SOFTWARE FAILED MILLIONS OF DESPERATE FILERS and now they are all in the error resolution department waiting to be processed!
I hope this helps everyone understand why when you used turbo tax you didn’t get the EITC, were taxed on 85% of your social security widows benefits (or any SSI benefits) and are relentlessly getting the “still processing” when you check your refund status.
IRS website - https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/new-exclusion-of-up-to-10200-of-unemployment-compensation
When figuring any of the following deductions or exclusions, include the full amount of your unemployment benefits reported on Schedule 1, line 7 (unreduced by any exclusion amount): taxable social security benefits, IRA deduction, student loan interest deduction, nontaxable amount of Olympic or Paralympic medals and USOC prize money, the exclusion of interest from Series EE and I U.S. Savings Bonds issued after 1989, the exclusion of employer-provided adoption benefits, the tuition and fees deduction, and the deduction of up to $25,000 for active participation in a passive rental real estate activity.
I’m not stupid. I did that. Irs told me about your little software issue. It’s faulty! My statement is factual and has nothing to do with what you cut, copied and pasted back to me! Re read it!
