Why is my refund status not found when entering in this exact information from my return that was accepted on 2/11/21?

When accessing the "Get Refund Status" feature on IRS.gov by entering my exact whole dollar return amount as filed by TurboTax, it is unable to find my return and asks for additional information, including the date my return was filed and the method of filing. When I enter in the date and that I filed electronically, it tells me that it has no information to provide on my refund and that I should double check that I have filed correctly. This concerns me, and I would like to get to the bottom of whatever the issue is before I feel confident that the filing information provided here is accurate. There are already some concerning signs that the information that TurboTax is displaying is incorrect, for example it lists that my return was transmitted on 2/12/21 but was accepted on 2/11/21, a full day before. So the IRS accepted my return sight unseen apparently. Ultimately, I just want to know from the IRS the status of my refund with more accuracy than is provided here. I need greater specificity than "Mostly probably hopefully within 21 days, fingers crossed," which does nothing to tell me where in the refund process the IRS is with my return. Any help or advice is welcome and appreciated. And yes, I have already scoured the IRS site to try to solve this directly at the source already. They were as unhelpfully vague as you can imagine.

21 days is the typical turnaround for most refunds, so you’re saying I should not expect any status information about my refund until I receive my refund? 

I’m struggling to see how that helps. Thanks for the reply regardless I guess.

If there is no record of your return, or the system says the information is wrong, please make sure you are entering the correct social security number, filing status, and refund amount.

To verify your Social Security Number:

• If you filed a Form 1040, the Social Security Number is shown on Page 1 in the upper right-hand corner.
• If you filed a Form 1040NR, the Social Security Number is shown on Page 1 in the upper right-hand corner.
• If you filed a Form 1040PR, the Social Security Number is shown on Page 1 in the upper right-hand corner.
• If you filed a Form 1040SS, the Social Security Number is shown on Page 1 in the upper right-hand corner.

To verify your refund amount:

• If you filed a Form 1040, the Refund Amount is shown on Line 35a.
• If you filed a Form 1040NR, the Refund Amount is shown on Line 35a.
• If you filed a Form 1040PR, the Refund Amount is shown on Line 14a.
• If you filed a Form 1040SS, the Refund Amount is shown on Line 14a.

To verify your filing status:

• If you filed a Form 1040, the Filing Status is shown on the top of the form above your name and social security number.
• If you filed a Form 1040NR, the Filing Status is shown on the top of the form above your name and social security number.
• If you filed a Form 1040PR, the Filing Status is shown on Page 1, Part 1, Line 1.

I checked my where’s my refund and got the same answer!  My state was rejected and the reason they said was turbo tax “software error”. I tried re-filing and it wouldn’t go through and said I needed to file it with my federal 🤔. I have used turbo taxes for years but I think this will be the last for sure

@Mrb11 May I ask what is the state? Also is the Where's My Refund issue for the IRS' site or the state's version of WMR?

Virginia. I used the IRS2GO app and I went online at the irs where’s my refund page. I didn’t know about the state’s version WMR or whatever. I’m just concerned because I was depending on this return to come as fast as it has the last 4 years I’ve used turbo but looks like turbo software is screwing me. That was the reason it said my state was rejected due to turbo tax software, I didn’t have to fix anything. I have a very bad feeling able all this

@Mrb11 Have you ever been able to see an update in WMR on the VR site?  Last year, people would see a status and then all the sudden it would go to can't find your information.  It seemed to do this the day before a date posted when its updating.

When I check the status at WMR it tells me my info doesn’t match. I double checked I entered the information correctly but that was not the problem. Idk what software issue caused VA to reject it but I have a feeling that is the problem with my federal as well. I really needed the return as fast as I’ve gotten it the past few years

I checked the VA WMR site and it says they have processed my return. I guess it’s correct because it was rejected.

First, I suggest calling the Where's My Refund automated hotline instead: 1-800-829-1954; you may have a better chance of getting your refund status this way. 

If you're still unsuccessful in getting your refund status, just remember that Covid-19 continues to cause delays in some of the IRS processes.  I would suggest checking back periodically.

I have checked both state and federal WMR sites and i miss read the VA site but both don't acknowledge my info but i have entered it correctly.  I have seen all the post with ppl dealing with the same issue.  Thank you for your help but looks like I be playing the waiting game for federal to either accept or reject it.

Until your state or the IRS processes your return,  you may see there's "no record found." That actually means the return's still being processed.
