Wow that is pretty cool, I really never thought that would happen but that at least helps
I know they said that they were giving out interest on those that are getting theirs's from 2019. Glad to hear they are paying interest to those that has been waiting since Feb. of this year also.
It is statutory so they really have no options.
That's right we have no options. IRS doesn't care when you get your refund or not. They only care if you owe them money. They will hound you until you pay or else. They won't try to help you to get your refund and that's for sure.

Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted?
Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund. Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.
To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund
After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions
A lot of us haven't received their refunds yet. Most of us have been waiting since Feb. and March. IRS told me it could be August.
Or later than August. The backlog of unprocessed returns is ridiculous.
The problem is that they are short staffed, so they say, but have no issues in getting all these other funds out. They should be working on those refunds now instead of trying to get checks out in July. This is what makes me angry. If we were to have to pay IRS back they won't be so short staffed in order to get their money. I sure hope that they pay us interest on our refunds also.
"If we were to have to pay IRS back they won't be so short staffed in order to get their money. "
We have had lots of questions from people who made payments to for their federal tax due----they are wondering when the IRS will cash their checks or debit their accounts because it it taking so long for the IRS to process their payment . Contrary to your belief, the IRS is not hurrying to take everyone's money before they process and send refunds.
And.....there is interest being paid on late refunds so eventually you will receive interest on your delayed refund.
Sorry you are frustrated. This is a difficult time for many people.
It doesn't make any sense in how IRS is sending out the refunds. You have some that filed in April and got refund back within a week. Then you have many that filed in Feb. or March and are still waiting.

Some returns are pulled and checked for potential fraud and various other anomalies.
The thing with that is in receiving 4 letters from IRS saying that they are working on it but will take another 60 days. How long does it take? Been 4 months. All they have to check on us is the amount of unemployment I received. Everything else is the same as the many other years we have filed with turbo. So again this makes no sense in how they are doing the refunds.
Where is my refund? I filed on March 29, 2021
