How strange! My return was received and accepted the same day and minutes apart from one another then a couple days later my status was updated to my taxes are being processed and when there's a refund date available or issued they would notify me. I have never heard of anyone having their taxes just randomly chosen to be reviewed, I thought they only reviewed them if there were errors found or missing information or suspected fraud. Finally after trying for 2 days, I got through to the IRS couple weeks ago and spoke to an agent who told me that my return was at a processing center waiting to be processed, and that the processing centers were starting to open but weren't open yet and to give it till the end of June if nothing has changed to call them back..... So the waiting game continues....
@xmasbaby0 who lied and told you they were back in office lmaooo you can call the economic impact line and they will tell you no one is still in the office. They shut down IRS main lines again. We’re supposed to be back June 1st then June 8th. How funny lol they still have to give interest. There’s nothing in the IRS policy saying “but if some pandemic happens stopping us from being in the office, then the interest does not start til we are back in office”. It’s been over 4 months. People like you can keep trying to make up excuses for the irs lol we already know all the stuff they keep telling us is bologna
Yes...they we're accepted Feb 1 and i got the review letter March 16th. I now have some of my taxes not all...seems as though i didn't get any refund for my dependants...they still owe me quite a bit! That department i was told isn't openyet? This is the strangest tax season ever!
I have been waiting for a little over 2 months for my return and my stimulus. I am becoming impatient...
By the time my 2nd review period is up, I will have waited almost 6 months for my refund. With no changes to WMR.
You and me both
How is that
I've been waiting since February 8 with no changes I finally contact with one of the representative they told me it's gonna be another 60 days I was supposed to be getting around July 13 not anymore supposedly the reason why is not everybody's back to work yet they don't have enough people so it's basically awaiting game now with the second stimulus check this is going to take longer
" now with the second stimulus check "
Congress has not voted on a second stimulus check.
If the post office, grocery stores, pharmacies, and other essential businesses continue to operate during the pandemic as essential businesses, why can't the IRS at least try to keep things moving along?
People are under a lot of hardship and the money they receive in the form of a tax refund is not non-essential. It can be the difference between getting by or getting evicted, or it could mean going without medication.
I don't understand how they could just stop processing and/or reviewing everyone's returns for months on end, with no end in sight, and with no explanation.
I've been waiting for over 3 months now for my tax refund. And it sounds like from what others are saying here, I could be waiting even longer, possibly 6 months or more, before I see my tax refund issued. My return was accepted on March 18 and it's been showing
"We have received your tax return and it is being processed."
ever since, with no updates whatsoever. No communication from the IRS to explain why it's taking so long either.
Last year I had my tax refund in two weeks. This is bogus!
I'm telling you I've use TurboTax for 7 years in a row and I've had it 6 years in like 2 and 1/2 Weeks always my account same bank account and I'm mine was accepted January 21st mind still says updating and my stimulus is still waiting for this to clear cuz I have gotten either one yet talk about eviction it's bull**bleep**
On a FB site, there are many people complaining that their refunds are "under review". They also complain of a 60 day hold. I've been waiting since February when my status was accepted. I got my state refund in March. When I requested my transcripts, it said I haven't filed federal tax return. I know they received it because they requested a 1095 A form, which I quickly sent out the next day.
I suspect the reviews are stall tactics. Along with needing for information, like ID verification.
Exactly! There's no reason they couldn't have worked with social distancing, masks, or any means necessary to get the job done. I'm tired of hearing of the stall tactics- 60 day reviews, ID verification, lost returns, and additional forms.
The key everyone...is to contact a tax advocate in your area. Google...
I was referred,by an IRS agent, to a tax advocate within 3weeks my refund was
deposited in my account. It was accepted in March but the agents left the office same week. Once the tax advocate called me, the ball started rolling. I had an error, she told me what it was and what form to fill out. I faxed it to her and she expedited it to irs. Got my refund today.
