I call the IRS twice a week and the last person I spoke to said that only the Ogden office was open for corrections and all other review offices were planned to open July 1. In my personal case my return was filed electronically via TT on February 7 and accepted w/in 24hrs. On February 28th i received a letter saying that I needed to fill out and include "marketplace insurance" forms which i had 8mo of the year but TT did not ask about/prompt. I faxed (per the letter) said documents March 3. I was supposed to have a letter or my return by April 16th but by then COVID19 had **bleep** down offices. I noticed last Saturday that the terminology changed on IRS.gov to "We have received your tax return and it is being processed." Ckmpared to a previous message saying it was being processed in different verbiage. When I called the rep was able to tell me that luckily my paperwork was at the Ogden facility, the return had been corrected and processed, and now it was on to another department to schedule payment. It was processed on June 17th but still no payment date. I am single, head of household, with 2 dependents and am mote than anxious to receive my $. Good luck to all, i hope my experience offers any insight. I chevk IRS.gov before I even get out of bed daily and any small changes in the message can mean something (anything!) has changed.
Further proof IRS is not back at the office. LOL They are thinking about delaying the tax deadline from July 15 to Sept. 15 now...
OK. So I e-filed with TurboTax on March 17. Maybe I will get my tax refund before Christmas? This is the worst situation! OMG!
In the meantime, I hope they also delay the mandatory reporting of quarterly estimated taxes for self-employed to Sept. 15 too, because I don't want to pay any estimated taxes for 2020 until I receive my tax refund for 2019.
I cannot deal with this anymore.
Omg get our refunds already we all earned it dammit
Agreed!... beyond upsetting. Fortunately I'm not in an extenuating circumstance but I certainly have been in years past and I literally believe this is the type of **** that good working people go homeless/bankrupt over! Its really horrible.
For those who are waiting, you will get interest starting from April 15, 2020 (vs. 45 days from July 15, 2020).

I can promise you it has nothing to do with race!!! I'm as white as can be and I've been waiting since Feb 13th, 2020. Still haven't even received a Stimulus check either! It really saddens me to see people want to make everything a race issue and I can assure you no computer is going to pick out if your white or black? I just don't think computers care about that!
Correct I've been waiting since the 3rd of February.no stimulus nor refund
Race don't matter
Green Does
I am still waiting on my federal refund. Been waiting since before the gov shutdown (February/March 2020). I have been using turbo tax for years (about 10 plus), and they have always been a good trusted service provider. This is the first time there has been any unusual delay. Since I have already received my state refund and stimulus, it tells me there is just an issue from the federal level.
Waiting is frustrating—refunds are taking longer in many cases. These are not normal times. It is not possible for TurboTax to speed up the IRS for you. They are short staffed; and they are processing millions of tax returns at the same time that they have been burdened with the task of processing millions of stimulus checks.
IRS phone lines supported by customer service representatives for both taxpayers and tax professionals are not staffed at this time. To check on regular tax refund status via automated phone, call 800-829-1954. (This line has no information on Economic Impact Payments.)

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic.
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

The delays we are all experiencing have nothing to do with Turbo Tax in particular. I have used them more than a dozen years as well with no issue, holds, even review. All filers using all preparation methods (private accountants, HR Block, etc) are all in the same boat as us. It is undeniably frustrating but no one's fault outside of the IRS.
Can I get the number for that agent
Can I get that agents number please
@Namtsja7 This is a very long thread and quite a few people have posted to it. Your post is vague. No one can tell what agent you are referring to.

As with many others, I filed electronically and am still waiting for my refund. It was "accepted" immediately after e-filing. In years past that meant I got my refund direct deposited within 10 days. This year it's been over 3 months already. I can't see why the computers can't spit out the refunds since those same computers have determined already that there are no mathematical errors.
Point 1: For 99% of our returns, there should be no humans involved, so why would COVID be an excuse.
Point 2: Why couldn't the IRS workers work from home on this stuff (for the less than 1% of returns needing review)?
They originally said that e-filed returns would process on time, while the paper returns would get delayed.
I guess they lied because I've been waiting the same, 3 months and counting. and I e-filed mine too.
