Haha well I'm trying to do it on h&r but I guess I'll jus do it here.
@Corey122289 So all this time that we have been helping you in the TurboTax user forum you are using other software----does that software not have an adequate user forum for its users?
No. My father usually does my taxes elsewhere... I'm trying to learn on how to do it here .. which is what I'm going to do once the wife gets home.
All these yrs I thought he used turbo tax but I was wrong. So I'll be doing this my self for the first time ever on turbo tax... Anything else I should know?
I also have this problem. I received $4,200 ($1,400 for me, $1,400 for my spouse and $1,400 for my dependent son, age 21), and this amount appears correctly on Notice Number 1444-C.
However, I received Letter 6475 (addressed only to me) and the amount is for $2,100. My spouse did not receive any Letter 6475. We have always filed joint returns and plan to do so this year as well.
TurboTax says that me and my spouse are eligible for a third stimulus payment of $4,200, which is correct. However, it asks if this matches the amount on Letter(s) 6475 for me and my spouse. If I say "No", it prompts me to enter the amount from Letter 6475 (which is $2,100).
Am I correct to assume that I should just enter "Yes" and keep the $4,200, even though it does not match the $2,100 on my Letter 6475 and since my spouse did not receive a letter?
Hey I just did my taxes on turbo taxes when u put it in on turbo tax if u put howmuch you and ur wife got for stimulus blast year it will automatically adjust and give u w.e they owe you.. and don't need the letter it's all don't automatically.
If you are married then you EACH should get a 6475 letter reporting 1/2 of the joint stimulus money you got last year ... if you got 4200 then on each letter it should show 2100 so even if you did not get both letters yet you KNOW what you got so simply enter what you did get and move on. The other letter may or may not show up ... who knows. They were supposed to go out last month ... I have seen a couple letters this week with 1/12/22 dates on them that just came in 2/10/22 ... I know the mail is slow but 28 days ???
Just remember u do not need the letter on line 30 on turbo tax it'll ask howmuch u and your spouse got last year total .. and it automatically adds on the difference I just we t threw this on this forum lol And I did it and it added my wife's 1400
I received the 6475 letter saying I received $1,400, but there was never any money deposited. I cross checked my bank statements and asked my bank to do the same with me. I did receive the two 2020 payments so that was never an issue. On the IRS personal account page it also says I'm eligible. Is there a way to confirm with the IRS that they actually deposited it or not? Like date and amount? Otherwise I don't know how to remedy the situation. I don't want to claim the $1,400 and have my return delayed for months.

You will need to request payment trace for the 3rd stimulus payment since the IRS has sent you the 6475 Letter stating it was sent to you and it has not been received.
Go to this IRS website for information on how to start a payment trace - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/questions-and-answers-about-the-third-economic-impact-payment-topic-j-p...
I made an monumental mistake on my 2022 taxes I filed the wrong 6475 information ..into the TurboTax system and filed electronically...I enter 7,000 into the 6475 box why because I added the 4200 we received early in 2021 with the 2800 stimulus, ..days later I received the 6475 latera stating 2,100 on my wife's letter ...it shoulda only been 4,200 in that box instead of 7000 ,too late I filed electronically help what's going to happen now ???
I am curious to know what can be done. I filed head of house with 5 dependents i only received 3500.00 last year and the payout should have been 8400.00. I filed my taxes and reported they only paid me 3500.00 however my letter 6475 says 8400.00 witch is not the amount i received. I am devastated because now I'm literally putting my hope in the IRS to see the error and correct it with my return if not i guess I'm just completely out of the extra funds!
You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it. It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.
If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.” The changes will go nowhere.
Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return. If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.
If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund. THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and mail it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally. You will need to use a form called a 1040X. return.
Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself. Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed
See this TurboTax support FAQ on amending a tax return originally completed and filed using the 2021 TurboTax online editions - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-to-amend-change-or-correct-a-return-you-already-...
Are you confusing the 6475 letter for the third stimulus payment (you + 5 dependents = 6 on the return times 1400 = 8400) which means you got all of the third stimulus you are entitled to in advance. So did you not get that amount ... it went out starting in March thru the end of the year.
With the 6419 letter which reports the amount you got for the CTC advance ... they started going out monthly starting in July thru Dec ... these are totally separate things and are entered in totally separate places in the TT program.

@acha22 You are saying that the letter 6475 has more on it than you really received? Are you sure? Did you check your banking records to see what amount deposited sometime after March 2021 for the 3rd EIP payment?
@acha22 Double check all your bank records. Could the 3500 be for the Advance Child Tax Credit?
Request a trace for a missing third Stimulus payment
