First I have a problem in the program. After I get in the steps of the program after Direct Deposit it freezes up. There is no buttons to navigate. So I say I'll just mail it instead of E File. Now it doesn't print!!! My computer is top of the line and my printer prints everything else.I've used it for 14 years and recommended to plenty. This year is a disaster.
When I try to print the forms for review or as a .pdf, the Turbo Tax program crashes. I've restarted several times and tried with three different returns, but no difference. I realized that the program has been saving the files to a 2023 folder, but making a new folder didn't help. Also, I now don't see any 2024 files on the opening screen. I can see them to open (in the 2023 file) from the file menu, but even after opening them once, the screen fails to show them as returns in progress.
Didn't work for me. I get an error message that says the file is not supported by Adobe Acrobat.
This workaround was successful until the print icon on the screen can be fixed. Thank you.
You're welcome. That's great!
To all, if the fix I proposed on page 2 of this thread works for you, I'd love it if you'd click on the thumbs up in that post (on page 2). Thank you!
Nope.
2/2/25: Running iMac, Turbotax Premier, Adobe Acrobat open. There were Turbotax updates which I updated, after which the program told me my application was up to date.
Went as follows (to the Turbotax menu at the top of the screen): File> Print> Tax Return only. "Printing window" with the blue bar going back and forth appeared and then shut down. There was NO OPTION to print as pdf. Printer never activated. (Tested printer with an Excel file and it worked perfectly.) Looked for pdf or other print file in Recents, Downloads, Documents, Desktop and there was nothing.
Plan to spend a maximum of 1 hour with the Turbotax Helpdesk and will post my results later.
I have the same setup and had the same issue. The “Save to PDF” feature (Command-Control-S) on the main file menu below the “Move To” is not part of the print function but more of a “Save As” feature and it did save a copy of my full return as a PDF. I printed from my Acrobat program.
Exact same setup here. Exact same problematic results. Look for my workaround fix on page 2 of this thread. It worked for me on a few different returns. I think it'll work for you, too.
Hopefully, TurboTax will fix their Print feature soon!
That actually worked!
You are the man.
And you are right that Turbotax needs to do better.
I've spent an hour on the phone with Turbotax Help Desk and they've assigned an issue number. Apparently the problem is unique to Mac.
No, it's not just Mac!!! I am running Windows 11.
Same issue here and I can't believe Intuit hasn't fixed. I try the Save As function referenced here and that does not work for me as well. Very very frustrating.
As of today (2/2), I was able to save my files as a PDF. (I am using Windows 11 on an HP laptop). The program was VERY slow in creating the .pdf file. and it still saves the file to the old 2023 folder, but at least it didn't crash!
It took even longer for the print preview screen to come up (more than 2 minutes), but I was eventually able to print the file.
Based on your last update, I won't bother calling the help desk. I can't believe they don't know it's a problem. Maybe they close the ticket because they still don't know how to fix their software? Or maybe they're happy with a 2 minute processing time??
I also see that the files have returned to my home screen. (I rebooted my computer this morning and opened TT again, although I didn't get any updating message.)
Last night (2/1/25) I tried several times to print my returns (federal and state) for preview purposes before e-filing, Each time, I only got a box that read "completing calculations" with a blue line that should move from left to right, but ends and closes with a double "boop" sound. Nothing is produced. It is a show stopper.
I went back this afternoon (2/2/25) for another try, and got exactly the same result - zero progress.
Unacceptable.
Same experience; trying to print selected hard copies as working drafts, but TT makes the "boop" sound and nothing gets printed. Saved to PDF for the work-around, all I wanted at the moment was my Schedule B. This will be the last year for TT and me, as H&R Block software will migrate my data; I'm inclined to buy the H&R product now and forego the current "updated" Turbotax software, unrecognizable from previous years, and certainly not intuitive!
Hey, Intuit: Pay Attention. H&R Block Premium Tax Software
Quickly import your W-2, 1099, 1098, and last year's personal tax return, even from Turbo Tax® and Quicken® software
Easily import from Turbo Tax® and Quicken® software
Thanks Prosit!
The H & R Block info is enticing and may well be used, especially if TT does not soon provide a corrective update.
(Unlike yourself and other folks posting on this problem, I did not manage to find a working pdf option. All paths began with "printing," and none enabled forward motion toward selection of pdf or a printer.)
So, I am presently stuck. After many years with TT, the inability to rely on them is unacceptable.
