The 1040-SR is your whole tax return. Turbo Tax is self prepared return. You entered all the info and Turbo Tax uses your entries to fill out the form. You need backup for all the withholding on line 25 and 26. Can you find the amounts that add up? 25a comes from W2 box 2 and 25b from all your 1099R box 4 and Social Security .
The IRS sent me a letter asking me to Verify my identity. Marie Richardson
Then follow the instructions as directed in the notice ... until you comply your return will be held up in processing.
I got my letter from the IRS Verify my identity.
OK what do I do next

Then you have to use the procedure as stated in the IRS notice you received to verify your identity.
Go to this IRS website for identity verification - https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/identity-verification-for-irs-letter-recipients
I HAVE TO VERIFY MY IDENTITY
https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/identity-verification-for-irs-letter-recipients
The letter will explain the steps you need to take to confirm your identity and which tax return is in question, including the form and the year. For example, it might reference your Form 1040 for the 2020 tax year.
If you receive a 5071C letter, review it carefully and decide how you want to verify your identity. The IRS provides three options:
Online: Visit the IRS Identity Verification Service website. It will ask you to enter information and electronically verify your return. https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/identity-verification-for-irs-letter-recipients
By phone: If you prefer to resolve the issue over the phone, call the number listed on your 5071C letter.
In person: If the IRS can't verify your identity by phone or online, you may be asked to make an appointment with your local IRS office.2 You should attempt to verify online or by phone first.
What You'll Need to Confirm Your Identity:
You'll need several items on hand when you contact the IRS. They include:
Your 5071C letter
The tax return referenced in the letter
A previous year's tax return
The supporting documents associated with both tax returns (W-2s, 1099s, etc.)
If you're verifying online, you'll also need:
Your cell phone number
The mailing address from your previous year's tax return
Your personal account number from an auto loan, credit card, mortgage, home equity loan or line of credit, or student loan
The IRS says to allow up to 9 weeks after you verified your identity. It may not take that long, but that's what the website says for 4883C and 5071C letters, assuming you received one of those.
I filed me e federal 2020 tax return on Jan 10th 5 months no refund yet unbelievable I called today got through to a rep told her I faxed and mailed all papers to irs my letter I received from IRS my direct express account card letter from pres Biden on 3rd stimulus check I received my SSI award letter all for verification of my I'd hopefully I can receive my refund now 5 months now
I already efiled with your company
@Richard602 This is a long thread. Do you have a question?

How you filed and with who is irrelevant to the IRS when they want an identity verification.
Identify myself before process my return
@Hussien3422 Sometimes the IRS request to verify your identity is random; sometimes it is triggered by something on your tax return. No matter why they have asked you to verify identity, you need to do so in order to receive your refund, so comply as soon as possible.
I HAVE TO VERIFY MY IDENTITY
https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/identity-verification-for-irs-letter-recipients
This is the second year in a row that this has happened. Every time the IRS transfers me to what they think is the correct extenstion, "There is no one available to help you. Try another day." I have tried about 900 times.
The IRS website says that it cannot process my request.
What else can I do to verify my identity? TurboTax should provide assistance for this.
TT is forbidden by law to help you in this situation ... only YOU can verify your own identity. So if you cannot do it online or by phone then your only other option is in person at an IRS office near you. You may also want to get an IP PIN so you don't go thru this again.
