The irs has no record of processing my 2019 tax return?

DELAYED FEDERAL REFUND FOR 2019  TAX RETURN

There are a lot of delays for federal refunds.  Did you mail your return or e-file?

If you mailed it:

MAILED RETURNS

The IRS has just started to work through millions of mailed returns that have been piling up in trailers during the pandemic.  All you can do is watch the IRS refund site to see when your return makes it to the surface and goes into processing. Sorry.

Per the IRS website IRS Operations During COVID-19: Mission-critical functions continue:

IRS operational status and alternatives

Processing Delays for Paper Tax Returns: Taxpayers should file electronically through their tax preparer, tax software provider, or IRS Free File

We’re experiencing delays in processing paper tax returns due to limited staffing. If you already filed a paper return, we will process it in the order we received it.

Do not file a second tax return or contact the IRS about the status of your return.

If  you mail a tax return (or a payment) to the IRS, it is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it like UPS or certified mail so you will know it was received.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.

TurboTax will not know anything about your mailed return, and will continue to show “Ready to Mail” on your account.  TurboTax will not know that you put your tax return in an envelope and took it to a mailbox.  TurboTax does not get updates on mailed  (or e-filed) returns.

When the IRS finally opens its mail and begins to process mailed returns you can check the status on the IRS site. https://www.irs.gov/refunds

State returns have to be mailed to the state.

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund

Or......

Did you e-file?  Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

Or does your account say “Ready to Mail?”

Note: If it says “Ready to Mail” or “Printed” that means YOU have to mail it yourself.  TurboTax does not mail your tax return for you.

If your e-file was accepted:

To check on regular tax refund status via automated phone, call 800-829-1954. (This line has no information on Economic Impact Payments.)

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

To track your state refund:

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901548-why-do-some-refunds-take-longer-than-others

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

You can get a free Federal tax return transcript from the IRS - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

For a fee of $50 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

I filed 2019 with you on Jan 7 2019. IRS has no record.

The irs has no record of processing my 2019 tax return?

@Charly3 What tax year are you really asking about?  In 2019 people filed 2018 returns.  In 2020 people filed tax returns for tax year 2019.  And....you filed a tax return during the first week of January--before the IRS even began to accept returns?  Please explain what tax year you are asking about and how you filed (or think you filed) the return,

filed taxes 04/15/2020 with turbo tax

in speaking with an IRS rep today there is not records of my taxes filed with turbo tax

that's strange..

reviewed  profile folder  there 's not an option for 2019 taxes however i  do see all the information filed with 2019 taxes listed under 2019 summary with federal refund amounts and state amount owed

How do i have another copy of the 2019 taxes  electronically sent  to IRS?

The irs has no record of processing my 2019 tax return?

@72lakeisha It is not possible to e-file 2019 again.  E-filing is closed permanently for 2019.  The only way to file a 2019 return is by mail.  We cannot see your account, so we do not know what it says.  But if your account says anything other than "accepted" for 2019 then your 2019 return was not filed.  Perhaps it was rejected and you did not notice?

In order to file it now, you have to print it, sign it in ink and mail it in.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Did you use TurboTax?   If you did, you can sign in and see the status if you e-filed.   If you e-filed and it was never accepted, the IRS won't have any information.   If you mailed it, depending on when you mailed it, they could still be processing it as they are really behind.   Or it could have been lost in which case, you will have to mail it again.   The post right above your post explains what you need to do if you e-filed, but your return was rejected - it never was sent if it still shows rejected.

Please see xmasbaby0's verify detailed response that covers what you can do if you mailed it or if you e-filed it - through TurboTax.      @Mohammed Eisa

The same for me. IRS claims they never received and I filed mine October 14, 2020 and received confirmation they were received but IRS wont provide 4506T Transcripts. They say "non-filing".   Turbotax needs to look into this.  It has caused me and others the inability to received loans for business.
