Status still Pending

Only thing that changed on our end is that we had a baby so I’m starting to think the child tax credit from the stimulus payments is what’s holding mine up- it’s all so crazy. I just want to get paid get back on track with bills and move on with my life lol I feel like they could have prepared a bit better for this tax year knowing how insane this last year was

I e-filed on 02.17.2021 received the two transmission from Turbo Tax, last one indicated Accepted by IRS.  Should I think there's a problem with my taxes when online (IRS) Where's my refund it indicates my returns still pending processing.  Anyone out there having the same problems?

@Lil3 "Processing" is a normal stage.   After your return has been accepted, the IRS checks things including whether you owe any back taxes, child support, etc. and it takes time for them to finish working on your return.  They will give you a date when it is approved and they are ready to release the refund.

TurboTax is a Tax preparation tool, so  once you prepare and submit your return to IRS, TurboTax is no longer involved.  TurboTax does not issue refunds or know when they are issued.  IRS does not update TurboTax about their processing of your returns. 

The IRS issued more than 9 out of 10 refunds to taxpayers in less than 21 days last year. The same results are expected for 2021.

I e-filed my return late February.  Intuit sent an email to my account at [email address removed] to confirm it was e-filed .  I have not heard yet from the IRS that the Federal Tax Return was rejected or accepted.

I efiled my return on 3/5/2021 and today is 3/8/2021 and the status is still pending on both federal and state (KS). I am expecting an email from Turbo to say that the return is rejected and I need to fix something but nothing so far. 

After 3/5/2021 I efiled other tax returns and they were all accepted by the IRS within minutes. but this one it has been more 48 hours and nothing so far. Can I get some answer please?

I filed on January 20th both my federal and state got accepted on the 10th and 14th of February and so far I’ve gotten my state refund and not my federal it’s still pending with the IRS  it’s been more that a month now is anyone having the same problem?

Please note that the IRS says its own system is lagging and you do not need to call the IRS about your refund.

Sadly, the IRS refund site is behaving erratically and is not always reliable this year.   TurboTax has no control over this and cannot find out anything about your refund for you.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.   Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic.  The IRS is backlogged —-they are still trying to process millions of 2019 returns; and they received over 35 million e-files when e-filing opened for 2020 returns.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

 If accepted, they try to process it within three weeks but it can be longer.  if you have earned income credit or additional child tax credit, it will be at least the end of February before you see your refund, due to the PATH act that requires that they hold your refund longer.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 34of your 2020 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

Mine has been pending for a couple of weeks and no email explaining anything, nor can I get a hold of anyone.

Mine says still processing and will update once a date is giving. Can’t reach anyone at irs and what help is turbo tax.?? No help at all. What did they charge me80$ for when they offer no assistance. It’s a joke this year but if you owe taxes they answer right away when you call . Last time using turbo tax. My family and friends who used h &r block not one is still in pending status they received or will be receiving their refunds

TT is simply a DIY income tax program and once you have successfully efiled the return (which is what you paid for)  it has no responsibility any longer.   How long the IRS takes to process the return is up to them and TT cannot intervene all anymore than a paid tax preparer can help move things along faster.

And nothing about the other $40 until you’re filing . But that’s not even my issue. You state you offer assistance and it’s a nightmare trying to get any help. And when you do finally speak to a human they are just reading answer from a script . It’s ok last year using . Looks like I’m not alone with the frustration. Don’t even get me started with the turbo tax card mess and non resisting customer service their also, two cards issued and never received. Weeks to finally receive the 3rd one and I paid for priority mail so that I could track the card .  Mysteriously this one was received.

Same here and they state they don’t know why it’s still pending and put of their control. Frustrating to say the least
