Not exactly. Your parent can claim you but they will have to mail their return even if you amend. So they don't have to wait for your amended return to be processed.
Yes, they can claim you as a dependent on their tax return but they have to print and mail their tax return because your SS number is on tax return already received by the IRS. Amending your tax return will not remove your SS number in the IRS tax return received database.

If you answered incorrectly when it asked if you could be claimed as a dependent, then you do have to amend. But your mother cannot e-file this year, no matter whether you amend right away or not. Your amended return will take months to process. Your mom has to file her return by mail. She can claim you, but has to print, sign and mail her own return. Hers will take longer to process too.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
For you----you will have to change the way you answer the question in My Info about whether you can be claimed.

If my amended return was already processed she’ll be able to claim me as long as she mails in her tax return instead of filing it online?

Yes
This is exactly our situation. Our daughter accidentally forgot to click the box saying we can claim her when she filed yesterday. Once she makes the change/files an amendment should I try to file electronically (knowing it will likely be rejected) or just skip it and paper file? Is there any reason not to try the efile?

There is no reason to file in this situation. Your e-filed return will continue to be rejected. So you will need to just print and mail your tax return.
