When will my tax payment go through?
During non-peak times, funds are usually withdrawn on the payment date you specify, assuming your e-filed return has already been accepted (received) by the IRS.
If that date happens to fall on a weekend or federal holiday, the funds are typically withdrawn the nextbusiness day.
Now, if you filed right before (or on) the busy April 18 deadline, the IRS may not be able to debit your payment until after the deadline, due to high e-filing volume. In addition, it can take your bank another few days to post the debit to your account.
No worries; as long as you filed your return or extension on or before April 18 and you selected April 18 (or earlier) as your payment date, you won't get penalized for late payment.
In the meantime, keep an eye on your bank account – if you still don't see the debit 7-10 days after your return has been accepted, call IRS e-file Payment Services at 1-888-353-4537 or contact your state tax agency, as appropriate.
**** Make sure you set up the payment
correctly ****
Check the printout or PDF of your return; look for the federal and state cover sheets with the Turbotax logo.
If you owed tax, they will show the payment information and how you decided to pay.
>If you indicated pay by mail, then you need to mail in a check.
>If you selected credit card, it will probably be processed in a couple of days.
>If you selected debit from your bank account, that information is passed on to the state and IRS and they will do the debit when they process your return information -- usually 1-3 weeks for e-file and 3-4 weeks if mailed in.
> If you also owe the state ... read the state payment instructions carefully since most states cannot be paid from within the TT system and requires additional steps. https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1900884-what-are-my-options-for-getting-my-state-refund-or-for-pay...
I look at the PDF of our return and there are xxx in the bank info boxes but no check in savings or checking box. Does this mean it was set up correctly to have the IRS withdraw our payment?
And/or how else can I check.
It has been over a week and I see no bank action.
Thanks anyone...
I haven’t gotten my tax return and it’s up to 1month now
With the IRS filing delay and backlog this tax season due to COVID closing the offices and leaving the IRS with very few employees working for the past year, the IRS has not stated how long it will take to deposit tax refunds. Your tax refund may be deposited in your bank account before the IRS has a chance to update your information on the Where's My Refund website
Please click IRS Operations During COVID-19: Mission-critical functions continue to learn more.
If you e-filed, make sure the return was e-filed successfully and accepted:
Re-check your e-file status
Make sure to enter the federal refund amount without the state refund, less any TurboTax fees if you chose to pay any fees out of the refund.
If you are married filing jointly try using the Social Security Number for the name that appears first on the return.
If you have already tried the above on the IRS WMR website, you can check the status of your refund by calling the IRS Refund Hotline at 800-829-1954.
Please check Why is there no record of my return at Where's My Refund (WMR)? to learn more.
I have the same exact issue and no representative at Turbo Tax can help me. I am pretty positive that I put my bank information in so I would be debited, but no action yet. It could be on the IRS to do it and there is a larger delay than normal. I just want my payment to be sent and for me to be done. Come on TURBO TAX
Please review this FAQ.
Thank you Ebony for the FAQ page. I scheduled the payment for 4/1 and nothing has been taken out of my account yet. My return has been accepted. Is there any way to know if it is in process? or to double check the information.
It seems like once you file a tax return Turbo Tax just stops all customer service. I pay for the deluxe package, but once I file there is no way to get in touch with a tax specialist. I only receive links to articles. This is the last time I ever use the Turbo Tax service. Turbo Tax leaves customers out in the cold and makes no effort to assist customers when issues come up with the Turbo Tax service. I do not need articles, I need someone to tell me that my taxes will be paid.
I should have known better after Turbo Tax did not follow their own FAQ answers and did not auto file a form for me. You cost me $1,600.
If your tax return has been e-filed and accepted by the IRS they will take your payment of tax due as long as the bank account information is correct. You should have received an email confirmation.
This year has brought challenges. The IRS is required to reconcile the tax returns and stimulus payments as well as working on the third stimulus payments due to the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). With the tax season and the changes taking place all at once, a delay should be expected.
This IRS page will allow you to View Your Account.
I e-filed and received confirmation that the returns have been accepted. I do not recall ever seeing a page where I set up payment of my taxes due. How do I check to see if TurboTax is taking my account information and using it to pay my taxes? I need to know so I don't double pay or get a penalty. This is extremely frustrating!
You might need to contact Santa Barbara. I am attaching a TurboTax discussion link for your reference. Click here: Fees taken out, read the last post.
Did they eventually withdraw your payment? I have the same issue this year.
Funds will typically be withdrawn from your bank account on the date you specified unless the date falls on a weekend or holiday. Please see the FAQ link provided below for further assistance:
