Tax Return not accepted

It has nothing to do with the zip code. It's the same AGI issue a lot of people are having.

Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.

Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.

If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions

From my understanding, you still go ahead and file anyways, and have all your documentation ready to prove the child lives with you for at least 6 months and a day, but do not send in or submit this documentation with your return.  The IRS will most likely reach out to inform someone else has claimed this dependent and will inquire about it, then you state your situation and they will most likely ask you to fax these documents of proof the child is your legal dependent under the federal law to claim for the tax year you are filing under. The rest should take care of itself as they will go after the claimant fraudulently filing for your dependent. At least that's how it was in 2017. I would ask a tax consultant, or even call the IRS and ask them.

I only need to remove the two dependents from this year's tax return and refile my taxes can someone help me do that?

If you have filed your 2021 tax return and it has been accepted by the IRS you cannot change the filed tax return.  You will have to file an amended tax return to change the 2021 return that was filed.

An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 16 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.

Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.

The federal amended tax return, Form 1040-X, for tax year 2021 is estimated to be available in TurboTax on 03/17/2022

I need to know what the problem is. Is it on your end, or do I need to do something on my end. I just want to know the status of my account. Your prompt reply is greatly appreciated. Right now I feel like I've been cut loose without being told anything. I'd just like to know

where I stand....  are y'all gonna work with me, or do I need to go elsewhere. Inform me ASAP please!

@TnM   What is happening?  Did you file yet?

Did you go all the way through the File tab, through the 3 steps and hit the big orange Transmit Returns Now button?

You can check your efile status here,
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup

When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.

When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. What does it say?

@Kieshan Has your pending status changed yet?

It is not allowing me to fix my return so I can resubmit it, how do I do it?  I refuse to do it by mail.

The AGI was the key for me. My return for 2020 has still not been processed by the IRS, so they have no idea what my AGI was from last year. You need to put $0 in the AGI for last year and it will accept the return. I actually found this on a CNBC article and it had a link to the IRS page with the same instructions. It would be nice if Turbotax also gave you a clue about this instead of just telling you to keep retrying to file your return.

Turbo Tax does have a help article that provides this instruction; it can be viewed here @Steve_3821.

I guess this is still an issue. My 2024 returns have been rejected twice all due to filing my electric vehicle. Removing it altogether didn't even impact the total or speed up the approval process. Hopefully, third times the charm but it has been sitting in limbo for several days (going on 4) and Im waiting on approval.
