Try using the IRS where is my Refund instead of credit karma. I can’t check for mine yet because it just got approved yesterday.

or you can download the IRS2GO app to check your refund

Would you please confirm:

1. You logged into a Marketplace account or called the Marketplace and

2. confirmed that none of the SSN listed on your tax return had marketplace insurance at ANY time during the year and

3. NO 1095-A was or will be issued?

Thank you for your assistance.

I logged on marketplace website and did the forgot username/password. But nothing was sent to my email. I have health coverage but when I logged into my account it said I don’t need 1095-B and it’s not available as of yet for me to download to keep for my record. I already submitted my return but still haven’t receive 1095-A form.

Was your return accepted or just submitted?  If your return was accepted and you did not include a 1095-A because you do not have one or need one then you are ok.

Is your health coverage through the marketplace, through work or Medicaid/Medicare?

Did you have health insurance in 2021 through Healthcare.gov?  If not, then you do not need a 1095-A.  Some people were still getting the error because the IRS believed they or someone on their return was covered by a policy through the marketplace.  If this does not apply to you, and your return was submitted AND ACCEPTED, then there is nothing more for you to do.

I keep getting this F8962-070 reject error and have called the healthcare marketplace to confirm they have nothing on file for my wife and I as both of us have only had insurance through our employers. We have not and will not receive a 1095-A. When I try to refile it seems like TurboTax is forcing a "Yes" answer to the 1095-A question. I have tried answering yes and filling out a dummy form and deleting it before refiling yet I continue to get the same error. Is there any timeline as to when TurboTax expects a fix for this? Seems to clearly be some glitch in the system forcing a "Yes" answer regardless of what is selected by the user.

@4725  Try this workaround to see if you can get this return to file.

  • Click Deductions and Credits
  • Scroll down to Medical and Click Show More
  • Click Start or Revisit next to the ACA
  • As you walk through the questions, you will be asked if you received a 1095-A.  If you did NOT, click YES.
  • Enter 0's for the Marketplace identifier and Policy number.
  • Enter $1 for January monthly premium amount and SLCSP
  • Walk through to the end and submit your return.

Let me know if this works.

@DaveF1006 Assuming this goes through, will I need to amend my return to remove this form after filing?

Same with me.  I did not have health insurance through marketplace, I have medicare.  My return was rejected but TurboTax gives me no way to fix it!

OK, I hope this helps someone!  I just got off the phone with a TurboTax expert, who was wonderful!  I did not have marketplace insurance this year, but did in the past.  What I had to do, was, go to "fix my return", and on the left side click "tax tools", then "tools", then select delete a form.  I had to delete form 8962.  It took me to a page to delete the form, and asked if I received a 1095-A.  I answered "no" and continued.  That took care of my rejection code.  Then I just had to e-file again.  It was accepted!

answer YES, then go to "tax tools" (in the black area on the left), then "tools" and select "delete a form".  Delete form 8962.  Then, you will be able to go back in and answer "NO" to the form 1095-A.  This is a known issue to TurboTax.

Hi,

But then this requires me to pay for turbotax deluxe... Is there a free alternative way?

If you feel you can file for free, you can clear your return and start over. For instructions on this, please click here. You can clear and start over as long as as long as you haven't submitted payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered your product, you can erase your return and start from scratch in TurboTax Online. If you have done any of these things, you'll need to manually edit your return.

If the return was rejected, please follow the steps here to correct your return and re-file.

Hi @CarissaM,

I have the same issue with the OP. According to the OP and DaveF1006 (an employee tax expert), the method works but you need to upgrade from free to deluxe version. I was able to file my tax for free last year with the same documents. It seems like the system has a glitch and we need to work around using the method that the tax expert suggests. But I'd like to ask if you guys can suggest another method that fixes it without making me upgrade my version. Thank you.
