I got my refund accepted on 1/27, 23 days later still not approved, why not?

The IRS target is 21 days from the tax return being Accepted to issue a tax refund. It is NOT a Guarantee
Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.
Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund
After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions
Me too, accepted on 1/31. Still shows same thing, not approved. I am going on 24 to 25 days now? Oh well, stuck , nothing can be done. Let me know when yours updates and I will do the same. Good Luck 🍀
TurboTax does not receive updates from the IRS once they have accepted your return. The IRS issues most refunds in about 21 days, although some returns take more time to review. To find out where your refund is, first check your e-file status. If it's been processed and accepted, you can begin to track your refund at the IRS Where's My Refund? site. You'll need your Social Security number or ITIN, filing status, and the exact amount of your refund to check your status. The IRS will issue your refund when your return is approved.
If it has been more than 21 days since your return was accepted, You will need to contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 and follow the prompts for a live representative. The person that you speak with will have direct access to your tax return and be able to provide you with a status update.

I called Thursday morning, 4days ago. I was told that I didn’t need to do anything or send any documents. The tax representative stated that I should be receiving my refund soon. I checked the “where’s my refund “ site again this morning. I got same statement “ refund accepted “. It’s so frustrating because I have never waited this long before. Also IRS really didn’t give any date or idea of when it would be approved. So we as taxpayers are just stuck waiting, I guess. I hope there are not others dealing with same problems, but I am sure they are.
I'm sorry for the delay, @rkitts71. As @TerukoL mentioned, TurboTax does not receive any updates on your tax returns after they are accepted by the IRS. For this reason, we would not be able to provide any insight in to the reason for the delay. Your best point of contact would be the IRS. If 21 days have passed since your return was accepted, they should be able to provide you with more details regarding the delay.
I called and got no help. They told me I did not need to add anything or send anything in. Just “wait”. 😳 So I wait, but if I owed it would be different story. I am really frustrated.
